The Week's Top My INsnyde Take: Leftist Snipers: Shooting Democrats Before Republicans Even Load Their Guns |
|
Oh good — nothing says “helping the ticket” like some Democrats spending their energy whispering GOP talking points. Watching some self-styled "leftists" heap dirt on Beau for not being a Hoosier is peak political self-sabotage — especially when the Republicans themselves have quietly moved on because their own candidate wasn’t exactly a hometown poster child. The more this kerfuffle plays out, the clearer it becomes that the only people this helps are the people who enjoy watching Democrats hand victories to Republicans on a silver platter. As one reader put it after watching my interview with Beau Bayh's dad: “The more people bash Beau, the more I support him.” If that doesn’t sting, nothing will. So-called “leftists” of the Democrat Party like to shoot some Democratic candidates in the foot before the Republicans even get their guns loaded. The SnydeReport picks a side — the Democratic side — and we’re not going to stand for internecine petty attacks that smell like opportunism dressed up as principle. If you want to beat Tippy Toe Diego, bring policy, competence and a better campaign — not recycled smear tactics and juvenile memes. Stop helping the other side look competent by acting like you’re angling for a press release from the opposition. Gary Snyder, The SnydeReport |

The IEDC Mess Is Bigger Than One Audit The Indiana Economic Development Corp. audit is the latest example of the truly first-rate effort of the Braun administration to clean up a festering mess. There’s a lot more work ahead, but the recently released audit report lays out a series of unacceptable failures by the past board and CEO. |

Todd RoQita, the Indiana Supreme Court and bad choices Rokita acknowledged that he “really meant” what he said in the affidavit. Forced into making a choice between admitting he lied to the court in a sworn document or admitting he lied to the public in his statement, our attorney general decided that owning up to lying to the public was the more acceptable option. |

Jelly Roll, anyone? Politics and the Super Bowl halftime show It seems everything is political these days, and the Super Bowl halftime show is no different. I know nothing about Bad Bunny and doubt I have ever heard a song of his. But it’s clear he is a global phenomenon who many are looking forward to watching, my daughter included. And he will draw new audience members from international markets. |

Chair Tallian Statement on ‘No Kings Day’ Rallies It was amazing to see the thousands of Hoosiers who turned out across the state today. After over 20 years of one-party Republican control and corruption, Hoosiers are fed up and ready for change. In these trying times, it’s so refreshing to see Hoosiers taking to the streets and demanding that our state and federal government focus on the issues that really matter: lowering costs, healthcare, and childcare, not just partisan power grabs,” Indiana Democratic Party Chair Karen Tallian said

Our neighbors are proud to protest No, Mike Johnson, these are our friends and neighbors, and they don’t fall under the categories of the names you and other Republican leaders are calling them. Show these ordinary citizens some dignity.

What Can Be Repaired? What Can’t? Ordinary citizens are likely to bear the brunt of the administration’s assaults on medical science and research, its destructive incursions into agencies like the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the withholding of billions of federal dollars that had been awarded to medical researchers.

Jack Smith, the one-time US special counsel, recently reemerged in public to denounce the Trump administration’s firing of career prosecutors and its handling of politically explosive cases. Fraidy-Cat at the Pentagon It is a truth generally acknowledged that Pete Hegseth is a muttonhead. But I come not to bury the self-proclaimed “secretary of war,” rather to praise him. |

'A confession': Onlookers stunned by new Trump military move that 'makes no sense' Trump over the weekend took the time to brag about a military strike, saying it was an "honor" while announcing that two were killed in the strike on a submarine.
