Help add to our worship!
One way the youngest of our Church can add to our worship is by serving on the altar. For nearly a year and a half, our dedicated servers have taken a break for the pandemic, but that's all going to change soon. As they begin training to resume this ministry, any young people who have received their First Communion are invited to join our team of servers. All training is provided and the servers get the best seat in the church! Want to join our team? Let Fr. Craig know!
Haiti needs our support
At 8:29am on Saturday, August 14, a magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck Haiti’s Tiburon Peninsula, about 150 kilometres west of the capital, Port-au-Prince. By Monday, it was being reported that the death toll had crossed 1,300; that 13,600 homes were severely damaged; and that 800,000 people were directly affected. The victims were also bracing for a coming tropical storm.
Development and Peace’s partners, ITECA and Caritas Haiti, swung into action, sending relief trucks and assessment teams to the affected areas. These are the very regions whose recovery you had generously supported after Hurricane Matthew in 2016. Now, our partners need your support once again to step up their relief efforts and to develop a sustained recovery program. Learn More.
When Beirut was rocked by deadly explosions last year, your solidarity knew no bounds. You contributed over $700,000, helping our partners to respond to the immediate and longer-term needs of thousands of the blasts’ victims, including some especially vulnerable groups.
As hard as our partners have worked to bring medical, psychosocial and livelihood aid to the Lebanese people, the ongoing pandemic, political and economic crises leave much to be done. Your continued support is therefore as needed as it is appreciated. Learn More.
As world leaders discuss climate change and the economy at the G20 and COP26 summits, our People and Planet First campaign will amplify the voices of those who resist the unfair economic systems that cause the climate crisis. Every day, more and more activists across the Global South are criminalized and threated for protecting Mother Earth, for defending human rights and for refusing to bow down to corporate interests.
Pope Francis tells us in Laudato Si’ that no matter what commitments countries make to control global warming, “a sense of deep communion with the rest of nature cannot be real if our hearts lack tenderness, compassion and concern for our fellow human beings.” Inspired by these words, our campaign will encourage action to force our government to stop Canadian corporations from violating environmental and human rights in the Global South.
Stay tuned for details on the campaign’s theme, materials and call to action!

Our partners have long supported the people’s quest for democracy in Tunisia, a country rarely covered in the Canadian news. While recent political developments did bring some international attention to Tunisia, little was reported on how the country is coping with the pandemic.
In Tunisia, the COVID-19 crisis is complicated by pre-existing social, political and economic issues, which it in turn complicates. To understand the intricacies of this situation that our partners face, we recommend a series of insightful articles by Inkyfada, an independent Tunisian non-profit media group.
