| Of course, the tragic news has shocked many of us and filled our hearts with sadness, anger and so many other emotions that leave us asking, "How should we respond?" |
|
The response of our parish will start with three acts to lead our parish into the process of reconciliation. These acts can extend into life at home and in our different parish ministries. This is also just the beginning of a process of reconciliation that will encompass many more acts and prayers as our parish, Church and nation continue through the journey of reconciliation. |

Prayers of the Faithful Till July 5th, one of the petitions in the Universal Prayer (Prayers of the Faithful) each weekend will be devoted to seeking God's guidance in seeking forgiveness and reconciliation for the deep tragedy of the residential school system All are encouraged to regularly pray for this cause. |

Prayer for Truth and Reconciliation So far this year, when we have been have been able together in our church, we have prayed a prayer of St. Joseph at the beginning of each Sunday Mass. Until 2022, we will alternate this prayer each week with a prayer for Truth and Reconciliation found at the end of this email. All are invited to print this prayer out to pray at home or with groups. |

Open Discussion Knowing how last week’s sad news has filled us all with many different thoughts and feelings: on June 17th at 7:30pm, Fr. Craig will be available online to listen to anything anyone has to say. This isn’t for finger pointing, it’s not a meeting, but simply an open place to share with one another and express how we’ve all been impacted by this tragedy. |

Monument for Sanctity of Life The south side of our church has a garden and monument dedicated to the sanctity of life: something that was not granted to many children forced into residential schools. All are welcome to leave symbols (children's shoes, teddy bears, flowers, etc.) in our garden this summer. Symbols will be left untouched as a reminder for us all till September 12th. |
