| Blended Learning in Engineering Education: challenging, enlightening – and lasting? 13-16 September 2021 - TU Berlin |
| | | | |
| The year 2020 has challenged universities worldwide in an unprecedented way. On short notice, universities had to switch from on-site classroom teaching to online teaching formats. We all realize that this extensive online teaching will have a sustainable impact on the way we teach and learn. The conference will focus on the implications of this very special experience on Engineering Education in Europe and worldwide. More information will be shared soon! |

| The proceedings of the 2020 SEFI Annual Conference, that was organised by University of Twente and the Dutch 4TU as well as the Saxion University, are now published on our website. They relate to the topic of Engaging Engineering Education and the tulips on the cover were planted and photographed by some of the 2019 annual conference participants. |

| SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP ON ETHICS |
| | | | |
| By Mandi Astola (Eindhoven University of Technology) My colleagues and me had a fantastic, freshly re-designed challenge-based learning, flip-the-classroom ethics course for 240 studentsready, when the pandemic hit. It quickly became evident that the whole course would have to be taught online. This meant that we had to construct an entire online teaching method from scratch very quickly. The most interesting part of this process, to me, was everything we disagreed about. |

| SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP ON SUSTAINABILITY |
| | | | |
| By Jordi Segalas (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya UPC-Barcelona Tech) There is an increased interest in education that levels co-creative processes in innovation as developed in challenge-based or design learning. Here you find freely available learning resources for sustainable design in Engineering Education in the field of Design for Sustainability. Feel free to experiment yourself! |

| It is with great sadness that we were recently informed of the death of Prof. Dr. Gaston Wolf (79) former member of the SEFI Board and SEFI Vice-President, and organiser of the successful and memorable SEFI Annual Conference 1999 in Winterthur/Zürich. Gaston was a fantastic professor, a well-known and very appreciated personality in Switzerland and in USA, an exceptionally dedicated SEFI member for decades, always demonstrating quite a special and personal sense of humour, and I must say, a great great friend of mine. All our sympathies go to his family in Switzerland and in USA, his friends all over the world, with a very special thought to his wife Ursula, who always accompanied him in his SEFI activities.
