Fun League Sep 8 Results - Season Wrap-Up |
| | | Hope everyone is enjoying some great days out there and hitting the course this Fall.
Sorry for the delay in getting this sent out. I starting have some side discomfort the final night of the season. The following day it was determined I was passing a kidney stone! That and some travel derailed putting together the season wrap up until now. |

| | The matchup between Dan F/Brian N and Eric S/Jared B was a good one. There were no blow-up holes among them with a double-bogey being the highest score. It was pretty much tied through the first five holes, but Eric and Jared were able to pull away over the last four holes to secure the championship. |

Below are a couple of pictures from the trophy presentation. Last season champs, Dan W and Tom M presented the trophy along with some new "green" jackets to the winners. The championship team is a three-person team of Eric S, Jared B, and Ryan M, so they will need to get a third jacket. The question is if new jackets will be purchased for next year's champions so the winners have the jackets as part of an exclusive club. Time will tell. Rumor has it there may be a "trophy" for the team with the fewest points in the league season as well. We will have to wait until next year to see what happens. |

| | $0 - We were able to have pizza in the pub. The rest of the fund was put towards season ending prizes.
As we head into next season, let me know of any suggestions you might have. I'm always open to feedback. |

| | For this final installment of the season, I will provide some stats from this season. These are courtesy of the work Eric S does so all the thanks to him.
Hardest Night: 5/12 - The top 5, and 7 of 8 are all on the Front. Likely not a surprise the Front plays harder than the Back. Both in 2025 and 2026 the first night on the Front is the hardest night of the year.
Easiest Night: 7/14 - The easiest 5 nights are all on the Back. Interesting in both 2025 and 2026 the first night of the 2nd Half played on the Back is the easiest night of the year. Why is that? A good question!
This was determined by the average net score over par. On 5/12 golfers averaged 4.5 shots over net par (meaning after handicaps are applied). On 7/14, the average was 0.58 under net par.
Hardest Hole: Hole #1 - Maybe a surprise but this hole can go sideways fast leading to a large score. This is followed by Hole 8, 13, 6 and then Hole 2. In 2025, the order was Hole 8, 13, 1, 6, 2. So, the same holes, just a different order at the top.
Easiest Hole: Hole #10 - I don't think this comes as much of a surprise. After that it is Hole 14, 12, and 9. In 2025, it was Hole 10, 9, 14, 12. Again, the same holes, but a different order
Player Handicaps: In comparing a golfer's starting handicap this year to their ending handicap, twice as many had their handicap go up this year than those who lowered it. Not sure exactly why. We are all getting older! Also, it was quite windy early in the season and then the heat was on the second half. Just something interesting of note. |

| | Some have expressed interest in giving curling a try and/or coming on down to the club during the season to watch. Both are excellent ideas and happy to provide more info!
For those interested in giving it a try we usually host a couple "Learn to Curl" sessions just before our season starts. That should be the end of Oct - likely Fri 1030 and Sun 11/1. I plan to send something out to the league closer to that. The club's Facebook page should have the info as well - Link.
During the season, which is Nov-March, the public is welcome to come and watch. We also have a bar with tap beer along with many selections in cans as well. Our main leagues play at 5:45 and 8:00 pm M-Th. Pretty much every night someone from the golf league is likely playing. I'm happy to try to set up a day for us to try to get together. |
