Right from our very first session I knew that Lauren and I would work really well together and would ultimately accomplish the goals she set out to achieve.
Lauren shared “When I first started my job search, I had very specific goals in mind. I wanted to work for a non-profit that was highly local to my community, preferably something well known. Additionally, I wanted an in-house team and a strong manager that would encourage me to perform at my best.” However, like any hard-earned victory the journey we embarked on together had ups and downs, moments of doubt, and opportunities for growth and clarity.
Lauren had been working in the marketing field for several years when we started meeting, and she was at a crossroads, she mentioned “I was incredibly burnt out, and at one point even thought I wanted to give up on marketing entirely and go to a new career.” We identified her career values early on, like being part of a collaborative team, getting to use her creativity, and working for an organization that values and cares about the welfare of their employees.
As we navigated the job search together and met regularly something started to shift. She shared, “While there is absolutely nothing wrong with changing careers (in fact, it’s encouraged if that’s your goal!) I wouldn’t have even realized the amount of marketing knowledge and know-how I had without Abbie’s encouragement, insight, and truly tireless optimism.”
We continued to have a clearer picture of what the right fit would look like, and after months of hard work Lauren ultimately found the role of her dreams! I am so excited to celebrate Lauren and her new role as the Marketing Content Manager at the Peabody Essex Museum. The PEM, as locals call it, is a renowned museum and non-profit located in Salem, MA that is known for bringing arts, culture, and history to the community for over 220 years. Lauren’s job is to curate and send out monthly emails, update and maintain the website, as well as hold ownership of user-experience online and on-site. She shares “I have a vested interest in art, music, writing and creative minds, so I feel truly that this is where I’m meant to be.”
For many people in 2026 the job search can be a challenging process for various reasons, and as someone who went through it recently Lauren wanted to offer to others “Don’t give up and listen to your instincts. Continue to put value into yourself and reach for something you can really see yourself doing long-term. It is a very difficult road, but worth the time and effort in the end.”
Please join me in celebrating Lauren and her new role at the PEM!
“Career coaches are amazing resources and outlets to use for this very specific portion of life. I had never considered it before, but it was something I will never regret. Abbie is a wonderful person I can now call my friend, and we took this wild, emotional journey together. It was a wild ride!” - Lauren
