Talks & Tours

Manchester Monastery Tours

Each Monday brings our Taste of the Monastery Tour, when expert guide, Grahame, explains the Monastery's remarkable history, from the mid-1800s to the present day, covering the building's original construction, subsequent ruin and ongoing restoration. There are two sessions to choose from: morning or afternoon.

Head down the rabbit hole with resident Franciscan scholar, Gill Harbach, for a fascinating, bi-monthly Hidden in Plain Sight Tour of the Monastery, with tours on the first Tuesday and last Sunday of each month

Or take a deep dive into one of Gill's monthly workshops, where she expands on a range of esoteric subjects. This month, choose from Earth Energy, Ley Lines and How to Dowse for Them, The Real Story of the Knights Templar, and more.

Nurturing Community

Regular community services include: a free legal advice surgery most Thursdays with Arshad Solicitors and weekly rehearsals with Gorton Voice Community Choir.

Wednesdays bring Manchester Camerata's Music Café for people living with dementia, or if you or someone you know is struggling with the loss of a loved one, there's a free bereavement support group with the lovely folk from Macmillan.

If you're feeling a bit lonesome, then we host a Chatty Café every Tuesday if you fancy some company and a friendly chat, or get your dancing shoes on at our free, weekly Golden Oldies Disco with popular local DJ, Ged Reek.

There is a wonderful, free photography exhibition by Graham North from Sun-Thu each week and community champions, Vicki and Chris Kennedy host a weekly Gardening Group and Green Team, a regular Repair Café for mending all kinds of broken bits and bobs, an award-winning Men's Shed (open to all genders) every Tuesday, plus there's a supportive, weekly Men's Talking Circle with Mentell.

Everyday Wellbeing

Join John Hofton on Thursdays for a healing sound bath, find your rhythmic zen at Christine Lineker's monthly sacred drumming circle.

For deep healing, book yourself in for a soothing trauma-release massage* with somatic therapist, Susan Roberts (*please note that Susan has a long waiting list). Take a joint-friendly yoga synergy session with Stef, create flow and balance in Peggy's t'ai chi class, or build core strength in Nik's twice-weekly Pilates classes – Tue morning or Wed evening options now available, along with a free health check consultation.

Join us for a daily, meditative hour of silence, Sun-Thu each week or explore the angelic realms with Intentions of Healing's Circle of Angelic Light on the last Saturday of each month.

Receive free healing every Wednesday with Hook Healers, or explore your inner artist at Lou's Mindful Crafting; Claire's joyful crochet workshop; and/or Jane's Manchester Groovi (parchment craft) group.
