Photography Exhibition: Shutter Bugs |
| | | Friday 2nd - Friday 9th October - open every day, 9am - 5pm |
| | | | | | A group of enthusiastic local photographers are showcasing their work at St Mary’s Church, Ross-on-Wye, from 2 to 9 October 2026, when the Waterpump Shutterbugs hold their annual exhibition.
The exhibition will be launched during St Mary’s monthly coffee morning (see below) on Saturday, 3 October, from 10.30 am to 12 noon, providing an opportunity to enjoy the photographs alongside tea and cakes. |

| | | | | | Our regular coffee session with excellent homemade cake. As usual there is an opportunity to join Welsh speaking tables for a good old natter. You can do that in English too, of course!

| | | | | | In October we welcome the ever popular Ruth Cartledge (harp). Northwick Baroque, great friends of St Mary's returns once more in November. That brings to a close this year's concerts but next year is already planned, check it out on the website. |

| | | | | | An after school drop-in club for all young people. We have masses of LEGO (thanks to all the kind donors). A FREE session, just come along and be creative, refreshments available, no pressure. Families very welcome.
Children are welcome to stay on for a sing with St Mary's Youth Choir afterwards until 5.30pm |

| | | | | | Amy will be in conversation with historian and Gone Medieval podcast host Matt Lewis.
Drawing out the dark and beautiful stories from the original medieval and early-modern texts, Amy guides the reader from citadels through forests, into volcanoes, caves and riverbanks and beyond, even as far as Hell and the Otherworld. Going further than merely the stories, she provides incisive commentary about each tale, emphasising the legends’ crafted nature and their symbiotic relationship with the political cultures of contemporary medieval Europe.
Thirty original linocut illustrations map the inky Arthurian myth-scape, darkened by time, familiar as a dream. |

Talk: Climate Change - Owen Pembery |
| | | Sunday 18th October, 6.00pm |
| | | | | | How should Christians think about the environment, and the way we treat it? How might a Christian approach to the environment differ from other perspectives? In this talk the Rev'd Dr Owen Pembery, Curate at St Mary's, will explore these and related questions concerning the created world we live in, the climate that surrounds us, and a Christian approach to thinking about them.
The talk (including time for questions) will last approximately one hour, and refreshments will be provided. The event is free of charge. |

Concert: A Pocket Opera by Carmen Co |

| | | | | | A comedic concert presented as a play, with costumes, props and a storyline roughly following Bizet’s Carmen, but told from her point of view.
"A buffet of musical morsels, served with an infectious mixture of respectful reverence and impish send-up; an evening that will linger long in the memory. In short – unique."
CarmenCo will have the audience in turn laughing out loud, and listening with absolute silence to the immersive and evocative music. It's a brilliantly accessible and fun way to present classical music. |

| | | | | | St Mary's choir returns to their base after a summer of "Out and About" evensongs around the Deanery and beyond. It's a beautiful service in a sumptuous setting and the perfect way to bring the weekend to a close. |
