IMPORTANT: Talk with The City about Your Neighborhood

The City of Bend is hosting a Neighborhood District Roundtable with Southern Crossing, Southwest Bend and Century West Neighborhood Districts which brings together City Councilors, City staff and community representatives to discuss issues, opportunities, and priorities affecting our neighborhoods. This event will be similar to one held in SE Bend last March. Participants and the City felt that was a highly useful meeting.

If you have not yet taken the previously announced survey, please do so now using the survey button below. (Survey closes September 22.) We also encourage you to share it with other adults in your household, and with your neighbors. The survey will help focus the discussion on the issues most important to our community.

During the Roundtable, the City will make presentations on the top issues identified in the survey. After the presentations, you will be able to visit tables staffed by the City on specific subjects, and talk directly with them.

The Neighborhood District Roundtable will be held on Monday October 12, 5:30 PM at Ray Hall on the Oregon State University-Cascades campus, located at 1500 SW Chandler Avenue. (Ray Hall is building 4 on map below.)

Neighborhood Connections Open House

The community is invited to drop in to the City of Bend’s Open House to learn about and provide feedback on two City transportation projects:

  • Neighborhood Connections (Better Connections and Slower, Safer Streets): This program aims to connect walking and biking routes and slow traffic speeds at various locations across the city. Projects can include sidewalk connections, sections of bikeways, speed humps, traffic calming tools, 20 MPH business districts and more. Community members can provide input on which projects to prioritize.

  • Transportation Standards Update: The City is expanding its traffic calming toolbox and looking for community input on which traffic calming tools to use on different types of streets.

Visit the online Open House here, where you can view a map of possible projects and submit comments. The Open House will be available through Thursday October 1.

There is also an in-person session you can attend on Thursday September 17, 5:30 to 7:30 PM at the Larkspur Community Center Community Room (1600 SE Reed Market Road).

Speed Humps on McClellan Road and in Woodriver Village

Residents of Woodriver Village and McClellan Road can comment on the City’s plan to install speed humps on Alderwood Circle, Woodriver Drive, and McClellan Road. See the image below for general locations. This project is one of those included in the Neighborhood Connections Open House described above. Visit the online Open House here. Janet Hruby is the Assistant City Engineer in charge of this project, you can email her directly at [email protected]

Participating studios feature everything from bronze sculpture and fused glass to oil painting, photography, and handmade drums. Find more information on the event and the artists here.

Be sure to also include a stop at the SageBrushers Gallery, (117 SW Roosevelt Avenue) a converted 1940s cottage where several member artists will be creating live throughout the weekend.
