Works on Wandsworth Bridge starting 26th May

Wandsworth council has sent letters to households along WBR announcing the planned works for the bridge.

The upcoming works on Wandsworth Bridge will include the following:

  • Construction of a stepped cycle track in both directions

  • Widening and resurfacing of footways on both sides of the bridge

  • Essential maintenance works to the bridge deck

  • Junction and bus stop improvements at Jews Row

  • Full resurfacing of the carriageway at the end of the programme

Once complete, the permanent layout will maintain:

  • The existing northbound bus lane

  • One northbound and one southbound general traffic lane as per the existing layout

  • Segregated cycle lanes on both sides of the bridge

  • Widened footways for pedestrians

The junction on our side of the bridge will be replaced with temporary traffic lights to allow for controlled pedestrian crossing points. This will be an improvement to the current status quo as there is currently no safe pedestrian crossing on this junction.

Works are due to start on Tuesday, 26 May 2026 and are expected to complete in autumn 2026, weather-permitting.

No Mow May

No Mow May returns to Hammersmith & Fulham. It's a time to let the grass grow tall to help nature thrive.

Increasing the quality and quantity of natural habitats, such as long grass areas, is one of the actions H&F is taking to protect our local biodiversity.

They encourage residents to join in and make space for plants and insects at home. You don't need a lawn to get involved. Visit the Rewilding Raves webpage for tips on how to take action at work, at home or with your neighbours.
