Maritime Chapter of the Georgia Native Plant Society

Shanna Lee, Georgia Native Seed Network Technician for the State Botanical Garden of Georgia at the University of Georgia will share their efforts on Jekyll Island

In collaboration with the Jekyll Island Authority's conservation department, Shanna has been collecting native ecoregion adapted seeds and growing out native plugs for restoration. Shanna has grown about 170,000 plants to date and is working largely on a project to restore an area of the island, which was previously used as a golf course, into a grassland ecosystem which will function as a wildlife corridor.

Florabundance Gardens in Darien will be open for visits and shopping from 12:30 to 4:00 pm after the meeting. 

Directions will be provided at the meeting.
