📆 Submission Deadline (rolling): 31 December 2026 The Education Sciences journal is publishing a special issue on the topic Unleashing Minds: Cultivating Critical Thinking (CT) in the Classroom in the Era of AI, guest edited by SEFI member Professor Elena Mäkiö alongside colleagues from other universities. The special issue is dedicated to exploring the topic of interaction between CT and AI in higher education. By embracing multiple perspectives and disciplines in higher education, they aim to develop a comprehensive understanding of how CT is fostered by the use of AI in teaching and learning and, vice versa, how CT can be applied to effectively use AI in learning and future work. |

| SEFI members recognised at Fáilte Ireland Conference Ambassador Recognition Awards |
|
Ger Reilly and Mike Murphy (TU Dublin) were honoured for their leadership in attracting and hosting the 51st SEFI Annual Conference at TU Dublin back in September 2023. Their work, supported by colleagues and students from the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment, as well as staff and students from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the East Quad and partners from Conference Organisers, ensured the smooth delivery of an event that explored how engineers can address global sustainability challenges. EIT Launches €70 Million Call to Boost STEM Innovation and Strengthen University Cooperation |
|
The EIT has launched a €70 million call to boost STEM innovation, entrepreneurship, and cooperation with European university alliances. The initiative will train 200,000 students, academics and non-academic staff in innovation, entrepreneurship and intellectual property management by 2028. With a budget of up to €2 million available per project over 24 months (2026–2028), this is the largest call issued under the programme to date. |
