Hi {$firstname}

This was supposed to be sent yesterday, but due to certain circumstances, it didn't happen.

But SET IN STONE IS OUT IN THE WILD!

Man, this is the book that has been with me since my childhood, and Aspen and Draven are as near to me as my own family. I never thought I'd get to write their story, let alone publish it, but here it is!

News and Updates

I landed in the ER on Saturday afternoon, and was there till evening. Doctor told me to rest, after ruling out stroke and heart issues, so I'm resting. Not able to do much these days, even typing is difficult since my left hand has decided to strike.

Writing and Revisions

I have nothing to say because nothing has been done. I withdrew from the Derby because I didn't want to end up publishing a half arsed project.

Just go get Set in Stone anyway! Help me pay my bills!

Don't forget to follow me on Bluesky and to join my discord group. I'm almost always on Discord, but you can also find me on Bluesky half of the time.

Other News

I've entered Blue for SFINCS and am now all in a dither since it would gut me to get a negative review even when I know negative reviews are a part of this shtick.

I also joined a local writers and readers group who operate on the principle that you have to be a reader to be a writer, so if you say you're a writer, you're automtically part of the readers' group as well.

They have Readers Group meetings (offline, face to face) every second Saturday and Writers Group meetings every fourth Saturday.

Every month we're given a theme/topic and we can read anything related to that, books, articles, blog posts, you get the drift.

September's theme was Indian writing and since I couldn't read my own books for it (I was tempted, believe me!), I did the next best thing and went on to read this article!

October theme is Science and I've already read three Sci Fi books so I think I have it covered!

I landed in the ER after coming back from the meeting, and no, the two are NOT related.

If you didn't miss it in my last newsletter, I've started a payhip store, so go check it out and grab some books while you're at it. I need some sales to pay my bills.

Check out the store!

Books I've read

I've read a LOT of books, and reviewed a fair few of them!

On to the reviews first!

On to the new reads and reviews and no reviews for some yet

This was a sapphic steampunk fantasy set in an alternate version of London, with two airship captains being the two main characters. Both of them are daring and dashing, but one of them is a pirate while the other is a respectable captain.

This is Book One of The Dark Between the Stars series, and man, was this good! Like beyond good! I adored this book, and ofc, needed to read the next one asap!

Image description

This didn't disappoint me at all, and was even more brilliant than the first! Now, I'm twiddling my thumbs waiting for book 3 to drop

Well, not exactly. I went to read a few books by one of my comfort authors, K.J. Charles. They write m/m romances and several are set in the regency era which is like my one weakness.

I also read the following two books, which were both immensely helpful to me. If you're an author, I highly recommend Becca's books because they're really really good.

I also read this book which was a SFINCS finalist and has been on my TBR for such a long time. The author is also a friend and man, this book! Just go read it is all I can say

Book Spotlight

I see your eyeroll. After all these books, I'm still going to spotlight a book, you say? Well, but what if it's an excellent book?

Caveat: I haven't read it, but the author is lovely and the book sounds interesting!

Kobo Plus

Ah yes! (Rubs hands together)

Kobo Plus! (Grins)

Seriously, the following is for new people. The ones who have been here earlier should just skip ahead to where you can get the subscription!

Kobo Plus is the fast growing subscription service from Kobo. If you're familiar with Kindle Unlimited, it's similar to that, but it has a few things that make it BETTER than Kindle Unlimited.

WHY KOBO PLUS IS BETTER FOR AUTHORS

  1. It doesn't require authors to be exclusive, unlike Kindle Unlimited which demands authors who want their books in the program should be exclusive to amazon.
  2. Kobo gives us the same royalty rate whether we are in Kobo Plus or not, unlike amazon which refuses to pay us the same royalty rates across marketplaces unless we're in their Kindle Select Program (the author facing part of Kindle Unlimited)
  3. Kobo counts re-reads in paying authors unlike amazon where an author is paid only when a reader reads a KU book for the first time.
  4. Kobo pays us better royalties than amazon.

WHY KOBO PLUS IS BETTER FOR READERS

  1. Truly Unlimited Reading. With Kobo Plus, you can get any number of books unlike with KU where you can get only a fixed number of books and have to return some in order to get any more.
  2. Cheaper than Kindle Unlimited. Yes, Kobo Plus is cheaper than Kindle Unlimited, and their Read and Listen package lets you borrow any number of ebooks and audiobooks which are in Kobo Plus.
  3. A KU subscription in the US costs $11.99, whereas an audible subscription costs $14.95. A Kobo Plus Read (ebook only) subscription costs $7.99, and a Kobo Plus Listen (audio only) costs the same. But the real kicker is a Kobo Plus Read and Listen which gives you access to BOTH ebooks and audiobooks costs ONLY $9.99. Even individually, it's cheaper than KU and Audible, but the combined plan is THE BEST.
  4. A wide variety of authors and genres that you won't get for free elsewhere. Once you subscribe, every SINGLE Kobo Plus book is free for you. I personally have over 50 books on my Kobo Plus library. Just imagine how much you have to pay if you're to buy them all!
  5. Customer support is way better than amazon. I had a technical issue with my subscription for which I opened a chat, the bot immediately transferred me to a human upon request, and they solved the issue. It took a couple of days, but they kept in touch with me and escalated and finally solved it. I've never had amazon give me that kind of service.

Have you got it yet? If not, go get it!

Y'all should know by now that I'll never stop plugging Kobo Plus!

Kobo Plus Promo

And there's this awesome Kobo Plus promo. Check it out, y'all. So many cool books in it including TWO OMNIBUSes of mine!

Other Promos

I know y'all hate this word, but I gotta eat, so I gotta promote!

The Flame of the Dragon's Oath- 1 more copy to be sold

Curse of Souls - 4 more copies

The Elite and the Rogues Omnibus - 1 copy on any site other than amazon, and three copies on amazon because amazon is STUPID
