News from AFMLTA

As an LTV member you are represented by AFMLTA: the national voice for teachers of Languages. AFMLTA provides vision, leadership, advocacy, resources and support and for quality teaching and learning of languages.

Image description

Did you know? The AFMLTA Professional Standards for Accomplished Teaching of Languages and Cultures have been developed by language teachers, for language teachers. Unlike the national AITSL standards that apply to all teachers, the AFMLTA standards are aspirational and specific to languages. They help us reflect on our practice, identify areas for growth, and celebrate the unique expertise of our profession. AFMLTA made it easier to connect the dots by mapping the AFMLTA standards to the AITSL framework in 7 languages.

If you’re a languages teacher, these aren’t just documents, they’re tools to shape your career, guide your development, and advocate for the work you do every day. You can access them on the website: https://afmlta.asn.au/resources/professional-standards/
