Ether Diver review of Memories of the Sky

We were delighted and grateful for the very kind words California’s Ether Diver had for Bipolar Explorer’s most recent album, Memories of the Sky. In his regular monthly column, OPM, he described the double-album as:

“Dreamy shoegaze stretched and twisted until it becomes a gauzy mix of post rock and ambient. Drones, slow guitar strums, washes of synth and vocal, spoken word, wind chimes and weird samples all play a part in this concoction. It’s a fascinating exercise in the way that genre signifiers can be played with and explored, and the way that both leads to other genres and calls the entire idea of genre into question.”

Ampwall

Slugg Records has begun working with a new public benefit company called Ampwall - a platform for artists and labels to make available their work. Both Bipolar Explorer and Tremosphere have artist pages on the site as well as Slugg Records, itself.

At present the two most recent Tremosphere albums saturated solace and Becoming Creatures and the three most recent Bipolar Explorer albums Memories of the Sky, In The Hours Left Until Dawn and Forests, Voices, Coastlines, Dreams: Recordings for The Dark Outside, and most recent single Dreams of the Bell Tower Watchman are available on Ampwall. As well as some new merch!

In time, we hope to offer our full catalogue on the site.

Slugg Records “Hauntology Series” - In the Hours Left Until Dawn listening party

Over the last year or two Slugg Records has been delighted to present “The Hauntology Series” -a retrospective look at some of the most notable titles in our catalogue.

In the latest installment, on August 27th, Bipolar Explorer hosted a live listening party of their 11th album, 2023’s In The Hours Left Until Dawn, on Bandcamp. Michael and Sylvia - in France at work on the band’s upcoming 13th album - were on hand to field questions and chat with listeners as the double-album was played in its sequence and entirety. Thank you to everyone for attending!

It was an incredibly enjoyable time and we very much plan to have further events in this ongoing series.
