Dungeon Pizza

Hello!

Welcome to the very first Dungeon Pizza update newsletter. We’d love to use this opportunity to:

  • Say hi + introduce ourselves

  • Recap our demo from the Queensland Games Festival

Meet the Team:

Cartoon Elly portrait!

Elly - 2D Art

Elly is one of our amazing artists. She’s been cooking up our environments and some of our lovely customers. When Elly isn’t decorating the pizzeria, she can also be found drawing delicious game assets, like our fresh rat chunks. Yummy!

You can find Elly on instagram here.

Louis - Game Design, Production, & Programming

Louis is the one writing this newsletter! That means he’s talking about himself in the third person right now. How odd.
As producer, Louis does his best to make sure the team has everything they need to keep cooking. As programmer, he does his best not to set everything on fire.

You can follow Louis on Bluesky here.

Cartoon Maggie portrait!

Maggie - Art & Animation

Maggie does all the UI, some of the character art, and also the odd pizza asset - like our beautiful spinning pizza dough. Maggie was meant to be starring as the wizard in this game but due to scheduling conflicts had to send the pyromancer Jalficer in her stead.

You can find Maggie on instagram here.

Oscar - Game Design, Sound Design, Music

Oscar loves all things audio. His job is to make sure everything sounds as it should, which can be harder than it seems (have you ever wondered what grated cheese sounds like? Oscar has…a lot)

He also makes all the music that goes into the game, making sure you’re feeling your best when you’re making your Dungeon Pizza.

Cartoon Sammy portrait!

Sam - Art & Animation

Sam does art and animation for the deliciously weird pizza toppings and character art for our customers. She also draws the assets for Boss the chef, like the little portrait icons he’s trapped in, or his paws for the minigames. Cute!

Let's talk Queensland Games Festival:

What an amazing, inspiring and memorable event. Some of our team had never showcased a game at a festival like this before, and what a wonderful introduction this was. 2025 has been the biggest turnout yet, and we consider ourselves so lucky to be part of such a welcoming, passionate and kind community of game developers and gamers!

The festival featured 35 games from 35 different developers (including both video and board games), and early counts show that over 3000 visitors passed through the doors! That’s a lot of traffic. If you’re reading this because you signed up for the newsletter at the event - THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Thanks to Qualbert.com for this photo - read their recap article here!

Our demo performed so well - it was heartwarming. We’re gradually coming to terms with the fact that this project, which we were initially just making for ourselves, seems to connect with people and has a real, genuine audience of folks who have been looking for a silly fantasy cooking game.

Theodore was pleased with his pizza (that’s enough toppings Theodore omg)

As for what’s next - our current development focus is all about our characters. The QGF demo had two: Max the level one adventurer and Jalcifer the pyromancer. However, we have three (and a half) more character designs already done up - we can’t wait to get them into the pizzeria.

Stay tuned, and thank you for reading!
