Toronto-based shoegaze outfit AloneKitty, the brainchild of Michelle K, returns with a powerful new single “Gotta Let It Go” that embodies catharsis through noise. Laden with swirling guitar textures, unconventional tunings, and an unrelenting intensity, the track captures the moment when a fractured relationship reaches the point of no return.
Written in Thurston Moore-style tuning and echoing the spirit of Kevin Shields' signature dives, “Gotta Let It Go” transforms anger into layers of fuzzed-out guitars and pounding rhythms. It stands as a sonic manifestation of frustration and acceptance—the realization that choosing peace sometimes means letting go, even when it hurts. From its driving, relentless energy to its climactic wall of noise, the track serves as both an emotional purge and an immersive experience where anger dissolves into reverberating fuzz.
The single follows AloneKitty’s debut album, which introduced listeners to the project’s signature blend of ethereal melodies and crushing distortion. Praised by Rebel Noise for its “powerful, distortion-heavy” sound, AloneKitty has carved out a space in the modern shoegaze landscape while paying homage to the genre’s pioneers. With Jonathan Knowles on bass and Stefan Loebus on drums, the band has honed a live sound that amplifies the raw energy captured in the studio.
Now signed to Mint 400 Records, AloneKitty is already hard at work on their next release. This new single offers a glimpse into what’s to come—music that is unfiltered, emotionally charged, and sonically overwhelming in the best way possible.
