Two Hunts Left!

Saturday's weather was just about perfect and the hunting was fantastic!

As noted previously, we will not have any more Wednesday hunts this season. However, for anyone interested in additional practice learning the country, there will be a trail familiarization ride this Wednesday (tomorrow) at 3pm.

This Saturday is our Junior Hunt/JNAHC Qualifier! Please note the hunt start time of 11am. Participating Juniors should be ready to ride at 9am

Annual Meeting

Please mark your calendar to attend the annual meeting at 3pm on Sunday, April 13. We will recap the season and discuss plans going forward.

Hound Drivers (or Related Support)—HELP NEEDED!!!

A reminder that we are ALL volunteers here! Our few staff members need some backup! Please contact Teresa if you are able to help with driving hounds or helping at the kennel before or after hunts.

Breakfasts

Thank you do LFA for providing breakfast for this Saturday's Junior/Qualifier hunt! Remember to RSVP for closing and pay for your catered breakfast.

Junior Hunt and JNAFHC Qualifier

Coming up in just a week and a half!

For the qualifier, there will be jumping and non-jumping fields. Proper turnout matters! Participants should have clean/tidy horses, appropriate attire (rat catcher), and suitable tack. (Braiding not required.) Plan to be mounted in trailer parking area no later than 9am. There will be a simple "flat class" (w/t/c halt, reverse field, hold hard, etc.) followed by individual tests that may consist of drop rails, gates, hand gallops, coops (for jumping participants), etc. Nothing you wouldn't be expected to do in an actual hunt field! The class and tests are not judged, they simply provide an opportunity to show off and/or test your foxhunting skills and knowledge! The day's formal hunt begins at 11am. Outrider Judges will be present in the fields to observe, so don't forget to show off your proper hand signals and hunt etiquette!

For juniors participating as staff but not qualifying, you are welcome to join the pre-hunt activities. You will, of course, not be judged during the hunt.

Please contact MFH Candy Smith with questions and to ensure we expect you!

Closing Hunt

Just two weeks away! There will be a stirrup cup, whoopie wagon, horse-drawn hay wagon, and catered breakfast! Please RSVP here

Receive Recognition for FLH Volunteerism

As FLH is part of the Fort Leavenworth Family, Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (FMWR) program, members of the Fort Leavenworth Hunt can record and receive recognition from Fort Leavenworth for volunteer hours spent supporting the hunt. Recording volunteer hours is an individual choice and not a requirement, but is strongly supported by the FLH Masters. Recording hours both allows for individual recognition by Fort Leavenworth FMWR and for Fort Leavenworth leadership to understand the significant time contributed by our members to make FLH successful as an organization. The guide to the right will take you through the process of registering, applying for positions, and recording your hours. Please contact FLH Master Candy Smith with any questions.

LAC Information

Image description

A Local Access Credential (LAC) allows civilians to enter Fort Leavenworth without having to stop at the visitor center each time. Members needing to obtain or renew a LAC must complete the Applicant Information and Criminal History sections of the LAC application (click image to download) and submit it to Master Candy Smith. You may also email your info to Candy or provide it over the phone (913-948-0189) and she will complete the form for you. She will then submit it to the FMWR Director, who will sign it and forward it to the Visitor Center (VCC) for processing. Current processing time is 2.5–3 weeks. Renewing LAC holders, please note this is a new form.

For those who need only temporary access to Ft. Leavenworth (for the hunt ball, for example), please register for a one-day pass online.
