Room and Board Increase

CPLF Recommended Room and Board Increase

Dear CPLF Contractors, Guardians, Individuals, and Trustees

Considering current inflationary pressures on Room and Board, CPLF at this time is recommending that all CPLF Contractors increase their Room and Board charged to our Individuals by $100. This new $100 increase for Room and Board helps offset increased costs for our Contractors and helps preserve continuity of the valued service our Residential Contractors provide for our CPLF Individuals.

Your understanding is most appreciated,

Neal Sabourin

Working Effectively at CPLF

With 2025 now well underway I thought it would be a great time for all our stakeholders being Guardians, Individuals, and CPLF Staff to understand that CPLF will continue to foster an inclusive work environment that is diverse and equitable. Guiding us in the provision of service is just some of our founding values:

  • Every person is a unique individual having worth.
    • Every person has the right to live a life of dignity.
    • Every person has the right to be accepted and respected for the person they are.

To our CPLF staff, you have been there for our Individuals and CPLF management wants to thank you for your continued work. Your essential valued work is inspiring.

To support our CPLF working environment, please consider the following:

    1. Changes to Individual Support Plans: Let your Case Manager know and seek approval before making any changes to an Individual’s Support Plan and/or Community Activities.  It is important to communicate with your Case Manager so that your valued work is aligned with our goals and our government funding.  Effective communication lines allows for CPLF management the opportunity to make sure that you are conducting work as per our Alberta Employment Standards and that you are indeed safe during your work.

Important to understand that Guardians and/or clients aren’t your employer and don’t tell CPLF Community Support staff what their job duties are. Community Support Workers aren’t house cleaners. Community Support Workers provide support services for individuals which does include cleaning up or tidying up after themselves and/client during Community activities such as eating.

If you have any concerns or questions as to what is expected of you during your work hours, please contact your Case Manager.

    2. Alternate Work: If a Case Manager, Individual, or Guardian contacts you to cancel a shift without 24 hours notice, let your Case Manager know as soon as possible and report for Alternate work via [email protected] as soon as possible so that CPLF can reassign you to a new worksite/client. CPLF’s current policy is that you need to report for Alternate work within 1 hour of your original start time. Once your worksite is reassigned, you are to get to the new worksite as soon as possible.

    3. Submitting Documents: When updating your mandatory documentation such as first aid certificates, police clearances, etc.. to work at CPLF, please submit updated documentations to [email protected]

    4. CET Survey: Our Creating Excellence Together (CET) survey is to be conducted sometime in October 2025 and our success in the survey is critical for CPLF to maintain our accreditation to do our valued work. If CPLF asks if you approve to be a participant of the survey, we at CPLF management will be very happy to have you take part and represent CPLF in this most important survey.

    5. HRIS Software Update: As you may or may not know, CPLF has been configuring a new software for all us including our valued Support staff to work more efficiently with more collaboration amongst ourselves. This new software will be an app on your phone where we will be able to see our schedules, Individual’s Support Plans, request time off and vacation pay, etc. This new software will become available we hope sometime in November.

Understanding the above considerations and processes allows us all at CPLF to work more effectively and efficiently.

    With warm regards,

    Neal Sabourin
