We were fortunate to help fund and produce Indiana Trailblazers, an Emmy-nominated compelling two-part documentary produced by WFYI Public Media in partnership with Clover Lane Media. It highlights the significant contributions of African Americans in Indiana and their impact on the state's civil rights movement. The documentary features stories of heroes who fought for justice and equality, exploring pivotal events and issues that shaped the African-American community in Indiana before, during, and after the Civil Rights Movement. It's a powerful testament to the resilience and determination of those who paved the way for a more just society. You can view the documentary by going to: pbs.org/show/indiana-trailblazers. The documentary is also shown at the Indiana State Museum's Legacy Center each day. I wanted to inform you of these small contributions that have been made to preserve the history of Blacks in Indiana. Our state's diversity cannot be denied...it is part of our proud history. Women could be charged with murder for abortion under Indiana bill House Bill 1334 makes changes to Indiana's criminal code, allowing an "unborn child" to be named the victim of a murder. The bill also removes language that exempts certain abortions from being considered murder. A juvenile who got an abortion or otherwise caused the termination of a pregnancy could be waived to adult court for the crime of murder.

Republicans find new ways to make voting harder in IndianaSince what counts in politics are Election Day results, and not the polls, an increasingly right-wing GOP has amassed impressive political power. But apparently that isn’t enough. The Indiana GOP is again trying to reduce any real prospect Democrats might have a chance of winning more than a handful of gerrymandered seats.

My INsnyde Take: A big week ahead as we will bring you intimate interviews with two of the candidates wanting to be the next Indiana Democratic Chair....stay tuned. |

Bill that would dissolve IPS fails to advance out of Indiana house committee
A bill that would have broken up Indianapolis Public Schools, and other Indiana districts, has failed to advance out of the House Education Committee. House Bill 1136, authored by Rep. Jake Teshka (R-District 7), would have dissolved any school district where less than half of the resident kids attended in-district schools. The districts would then be turned into charter schools.
