KUE join European University Association

Image description

On January 31, 2025, the European University Association (EUA) Council approved the membership applications of eight new universities, including the Krakow University of Economics.

This is especially significant as the university joined on the 100th anniversary of its founding. The EUA is a network of over 900 members from 49 European countries, offering universities access to a wealth of knowledge and collaborative opportunities. Currently, only 45 institutions from Poland are part of the EUA.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Read more >>>

With long-range goals in mind, Polish universities have also been starting to cooperate with foreign secondary and post-secondary schools for some time. The key reasons are several. The most important is to ensure continuity of internationalization.                                                                                                                                                                                            Read more >>>

    Research

Below you can find a list of recent KUE's activities related to research from across the University.

Leadership in Cities Affected by Defunctionalization

    Image description

Research investigates the interdependence between urban leadership types and strategies for adapting to socio-economic challenges in depopulating medium-sized cities. It focuses on cities experiencing "negative defunctionalization"—the permanent loss of their ability to perform essential functions and a deterioration in their socio-economic conditions.

Project Manager: Professor Stanisław Mazur - Department of Public Policy of KUE.

Concepts of the new citizen. Naturalization in the light of socio-economic integration studies

    Image description

The project focuses on research on Polish realities, but reflects well the problems we are facing recently around the world. The research project aims to analyze the adaptation and behavior of Poland's new citizens, especially those from Ukraine and Belarus. It will focus on social integration, the job market, identity, civic attitudes, contacts with the local community and the celebration of Polish traditions. Key questions include whether the adoption of citizenship is the final stage of integration or can occur independently of it.

The research will provide a better understanding of the adaptation processes and reasons for the decision to take citizenship. The results will help effectively integrate immigrants in the face of demographic challenges and build social cohesion.

Project Manager: Joanna Sikorska - Department of European Studies and Economic Integration of KUE.

      Technology and media

Media in itself means just a method of communication. Expectations of employees and students make them something much more serious - a requirement of our time.

      Image description

The project involves a partnership of 6 countries: Indonesia, Romania, Serbia, Spain, Ukraine and Poland. The project is developing digital skills and competences employability.

The project will provide such deliverables as a competency test, 12 online courses and a certification system in line with the EU micro-certificate guidelines. Thanks to the cooperation of partners from different countries, the project will deepen intercultural understanding and strengthen relations between institutions, which may lead to further cooperation.
