The title comes from the popular magazine Theatre World – a precursor of Plays and Players – which treated each current production in the West End to a six-page spread of captioned photographs depicting key moments in the story. The final picture always provided the reader with a full view of the stage as the drama reached its dénouement.  Beneath this last photograph would be the words: A moment towards the end of the play . . .

As well as telling his own life story, West shares the life of his father, (Harry) Lockwood West, a jobbing actor for many years on television, radio and the stage. In October 1961, Timothy West appeared as Col. Grey-Balding in Simple Spymen at Streatham Hill Theatre.

Take Part in Events Throughout the Year!

Our regular events take place on the second Tuesday of each month - save those dates in your diary!

    • Feb 11th - Speed date improv - A Valentine’s Day-themed event with a twist - for those of you who love improvisation. What happens when a selection of current celebrities and/or historical characters meet at an STC ‘speed date’ event? It promises to be a night to remember. Bring along your favourite character.
There will be a licensed bar. All speed=daters will receive a free glass of Prosecco!
    • March 11th - Bring along a monologue - perform your favourite monologue (it can be your own writing or a known work).

More events to be revealed nearer the time!

We welcome all members' suggestions for events, and are very happy to consider offers from members to facilitate events. We will always offer help and support to potential facilitators, if required. Please note that we don't normally pay fees, as we are all volunteers.

As well as providing interesting readings, workshops and talks, our events are a great way of keeping in touch with others from STC. They are usually free to members and only £5 to others, so please do come along.

Keep a look out for our emails or check our website for details of planned events coming up next year.

These events are kindly run by volunteers from STC or our friends in show business.

You can join us or renew your subscriptions at events too - at only £10 a year to subscribe, it quickly pays itself back due to free admission to events and discount performance tickets, and helps us keep theatre in Streatham.
