MEMBER HIGHLIGHT

Ready, Set, Read!

We are excited to highlight the tireless efforts of Lauren Wagman, the Executive Director of Ready, Set, Read! in Los Angeles! For this organization, it's all about educational equity for children — from day one — regardless of their zip code. Ready, Set, Read! invests in communities by focusing on early literacy and providing access to children's books, parent programs, and resources. Their reach is impressive, distributing at least 40,000 high-quality books to 10,000 children (ages 0-5) and their families.

The self-proclaimed "book nerds" at Ready, Set, Read! joined the NBAA because they wanted to be part of a community that loves learning new methods and sharing tried and true tips. Their dedication to building connections and engaging families in literacy activities can be seen throughout their programs, including their three core workshops: Foundations of Literacy, Math & Literacy, and Science & Literacy. These are offered at nearly 100 early education centers across Los Angeles!

In addition to the shared resources and sense of community that accompany NBAA membership, there is also the opportunity to learn alongside others who view literacy as a fundamental human right. If, like Lauren, you are interested in advocacy and working toward a future without book deserts, we'd love for you to join us!
