Sounds ridiculous to even ask but yesterday 198 democrats in the US House voted to allow illegal aliens to vote in US Elections. My opponent supports these efforts. She took it a step further by voting to allow non-citizens to become police officers and sheriffs (HB 3751). Syed also voted to permit undocumented immigrants to obtain their driver's licenses in Illinois. (HB 3882).
The bottom line: Current Illinois law prohibits noncitizens from voting in federal and state elections. While no Illinois municipalities currently allow noncitizen voting in local elections, state law does not explicitly prevent local governments from changing this policy.
As your candidate, I believe in upholding our current voting laws and will advocate for policies that we know are common sense in Springfield. Your vote is crucial in this upcoming election. I encourage you to exercise your right to vote and to remind others in our community about the importance of participating in our democratic process. There is too much at stake in this upcoming election.
