We're happy to invite you to the round table & book presentation we’re organising on the occasion of Milan Design Week 2024 at Spazio, an architecture gallery and bookshop located in the Porta Venezia district known for its thought-provoking exhibitions and talks programme.



Developed as part of our ongoing investigations on greenhouses as horti-cultural production tools, the round table explores the creative and social potential of these transparent architectures. For the occasion we invited the founders of three inspiring Italian projects to join us – Alle Ortiche (Genova), Le Serre dei Giardini Margherita (Bologna), Opera in Fiore (Milan) – and with them we will discuss how repurposed greenhouses can become empowering and meaningful places for varied communities to engage with-in urban contexts.



The round table will also be the occasion to introduce our recent publication Greenhouse Stories. A Critical Re-examination of Transparent Microcosms (Onomatopee – NL, 2023) to the Milanese and Design Week audiences. [Book info here]

Workshop & talk

The Italian cultural association Blu – Breeding and Learning Unit invited us to contribute to their pilot programme Learning from the Present. Next week we'll be leading a creative writing & design fiction workshop at the agrarian school Istituto Marsano, in Genova, Italy. Based on our ongoing research on greenhouses, together with the students we'll imagine sci-fi scenarios about future terrestrial and extraterrestrial life under glass. On Saturday April 13, we'll take part in a public round table (in Italian) with landscape architect Francesco Garofalo to discuss the workshop results and other greenhouse-related ideas.

Exhibition
The fourth and last iteration of our touring exhibition about plants & design is opening on April 27th at Schloss & Park Pillnitz, outside of Dresden, Germany. Featuring new projects developed during last summer's School of Phyto-centred Design, this showcase marks the end of the long-term endeavour we started in 2017 under the title Plant Fever.
