Recent Work Press News

February 2024

Hello and welcome to our first newsletter for 2024.

We're super excited about the titles we'll be releasing this year. However, due to some late 2023/early 2024 hecticness, we haven't been as prepared for 2024 as we usually would. Our 2024 editions will be coming at you as they roll off the production line.

Keep your eyes peeled for new work from RWP poets: Jen Webb, Adrian Caesar, Lucy Alexander, Nathanael O'Reilly and Paul Cliff. While we welcome new collections from Jennifer Allen, Rachael Mead, David Musgrave, Amanda Anastasi and Andrew Moss. And, as we do each year, are very proud to present debut collections from Asha Naznin and Barrina South.

We're reserving February for the launch of Unclassified, the first book length study of the work of renowned violinist Nigel Kennedy by Paul Munden (more below).

I figured out that 2024 is our 10th year! All offers of champagne are gratefully accepted.

Unclassified: Nigel Kennedy in Chapters & Verse

by Paul Munden

February 2024

ISBN  9780645651386

For all its eccentricity, this book – the first ever study of Nigel Kennedy’s exceptional talent – delves into complex questions: about the relationship between so-called genius and unconventional behaviour; the true purpose of education; the freedom of the interpreter; connections between music and poetry, music and sport; and the role of the artist as advocate of political and humanitarian causes.

This is a book that revels in the non-conformative nature of its subject, and the principle of living life with truly individual purpose. It speaks to fans and detractors alike; to musicians, both professional and amateur; also to the general, curious reader not only about music but a wealth of associated cultural issues.
