Franklin Animal Shelter Quarterly Newsletter • Issue 4, 2023

View From the Shelter

Hello, and welcome to Fall in New Hampshire. As we look towards another year of care for the dogs and cats at the shelter, the team at the Franklin Animal Shelter would like to give you some insight to what is going on behind the scenes and our plans for the rest of the year and into 2024.

We are right in the midst of another exciting round of strategic planning! Last year, we actively participated in numerous community events, and this year, we're gearing up to take an even more active role in our community. We're dedicated to providing valuable resources and fostering stronger collaborations with our neighboring communities.

Keep an eye out for our upcoming Open House in the spring! We'll be looking to offer rabies shot clinics, vaccinations, and spaying/neutering options for dogs and cats. It's an event you won't want to miss.

We're currently on the lookout for volunteers who can lend a hand at the shelter, both in the mornings and evenings on weekdays. Additionally, we need enthusiastic individuals to join us in organizing and supporting our community events.

In response to the rising veterinary bills from the past year, we've established a new committee to bolster our fundraising efforts. We're committed to ensuring the best care for our animals.  If you would like more information on different ways to help out the shelter, including becoming a sustaining donor or considering the shelter in your estate planning, please reach out to us at [email protected].

Stay tuned for our annual appeal, which will be heading your way soon! And please remember how much we genuinely appreciate your unwavering support.

Finally, don't forget to visit our website and follow us on social media for regular updates on our shelter's wish list. Your contributions make a significant difference in the lives of our furry friends. Thank you for being part of our incredible community!

Respectfully,

Scott Burns

President, Franklin Animal Shelter Board of Directors

The Franklin Animal Shelter has many demands to fund its charitable mission to care for and re-home the neglected, abused, abandoned, stray, and unwanted cats and dogs of the community.

The support of the community has always been critical to its success and will be even more critical as the Shelter grows. There are many ways to financially support FAS, including immediate one-time donations, memorial donations, pledged giving, deferred giving, volunteering, or donating an item from our Everyday Item Wish List.

We appreciate your generosity!

Meet Bob

We would like to introduce everyone to a new member of our shelter team, Bob Laflamme!  Bob is a veteran of the Marine Corps and National Guard, having served on the Franklin Police department in the 1980s. He has been married to his wife Karen for 21 years, and they reside in Franklin. Bob has many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Although he hasn't been working at the shelter for long, he enjoys taking care of the animals.

Community is Everything

One of the most difficult sections for us to fill in the newsletter is our Community Corner, because we always have SO MANY to chose from!  The community that the Franklin Animal Shelter serves is truly amazing, and we thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.  This edition we want to highlight one incredible kid, Jolene.  For her 6th birthday, this go-getter put together a donation that blew us away.  Thank you, Jolene, for being awesome.

Missy's Mentions, FAS Success Stories

Miss Priss is living her best life!

We love to see how our guests have found love in their new homes, and the lovely Miss Priss (aka Princess Diana) certainly is!  Nora writes us and says "I am the proud momma to Miss Priss. We were so fortunate to have Krista help us. Miss Priss certainly feels at home here. I bring her back to see Krista whenever possible. Thank you Krista and Franklin Animal Shelter."
