What a month for MANIFEST! We are glad to present the highlights of the MANIFEST artist's impact on Nantes Digital Week. It was a remarkable experience that we want to share with all of you.
On the Occasion of the 10th Nantes Digital Week, our partner Les Anneaux de la Memorie invited MANIFEST artists Magalie Mobetie and the Collective "On a slamé sur la Lune" to visit the French city hub to plunge into the innovative art festival.
On September 20th, an enlightening Masterclass designed for students and a round-table dialogue open to the general public were held. Led by artist Magalie Mobetie and the "On A Slamé Sur La Lune" collective, who also carried out a live performance, this gathering explored the realms of mediation, creative processes rooted in historical materials (archives, archaeology, heritage, etc.), and the utilization of digital tools. The aim was to shed light on how digital artworks offer novel perspectives for mediating history and heritage, with particular emphasis on the recollection of the transatlantic trade of enslaved people.
Artist Magalie Mobetie had the chance to speak both with the mayor of Nantes, Johanna Rolland, and to the deputy about the MANIFEST project, concluding with very insightful comments about cultural heritage and legacy.
Subsequently, the artists embarked on a historical tour around Nantes exploring the traces of the Transantlantic Trade of Enslaved Peoples in the city. The tour ended with a visit to the Memorial de l’Abolition.
