Dear CMCS-Men and Readers, |
It's important, in particular, that men profess their faith in public again. Unfortunately, men have slowly but surely slipped out of the picture. Because of that, faith is losing its grip. One of the most important things you can do as a Catholic man is to be informed. This means reading your Bible, attending Mass, and learning about the Catholic faith. You can also listen to Catholic radio or watch Catholic programming, or engage with a parish men's group, to name a few. By being informed, you can help to grow your faith and make informed decisions. |
Our Annual Bishop's Catholic Men’s Forum, the CMCSMen Blog, and Manhood Nuggets videos surely have something for everyone. With speakers and articles that include Bishops, and Priests, and Deacons, to name a few who help men like us gain a deeper understanding of Catholicism and where we fit into the greater scheme of things. His Excellency, Bishop Joseph Perry ensures that all the teachings and events at CMCS are orthodox and support the Catholic faith. |
Over the past couple of years we hope that our new videos have helped to equip and encourage your Catholic walk to think critically about the role of masculinity in our lives and in the Church, and to be doubly diligent in living out the call to holiness that is central to Catholic manhood. |
As we continue to produce these videos, we are also beginning to see ways to use this medium in an even more strategic way. For better or worse, the inescapable reality is that there are thousands of men who will only consume information through video, while thousands of others prefer to consume it through the written word. |
This is reflective back in 2009 when CMCS launched our first blog, after the invention of the iPhone our well attended men's conferences since 2004 began to slowly dwindle. It became evident that more and more men only wanted to experience our information and encouragement in the digital world; while the Church instilled that we attend and engage in community (in the real world). Much like what you see in the pews and at other Catholic events today. |
Summer is traditionally a slow time for fundraising but, as the end of summer is now here, it is clear that we need to do our fundraising targets for the year three times instead of two - or every four months. Although the launch of our videos has been extremely time consuming, in addition to writing, it thus requires building out a new workflow and budget for equipment, internet technology, and archiving. It is now clear that this represents a major opportunity to reach a large number of Catholic men and offer you new information and different ways of understanding the world, helping you get to where you're going spiritually. |
Catholic Men Chicago Southland is run by a dedicated Catholic team who volunteer their endless time and valuable experiences. And, as director, instead of me taking part-time pay, the CMCS Team helps me in-kind to stay away from the food pantry (because for the past few years I have lived by the lay Catholic vow of poverty) in order to stay focused on mission. We are working to advance the faith so, together with you, we can strengthen the Church, and form a Catholic manhood culture in our local Vicariate and the archdiocese. Our rule has always been to function debt free or don't do it. |
Since Catholic Men Chicago Southland was founded in 2004, our team has strived to stay true to our mission of serving Catholic men to make Christ the center of our lives. However, our work can only continue with the support of others who share in our cause. |
We always offer our articles and videos free and without a pay wall, and event tickets affordable to (only) cover the food expense, but your generosity is necessary to keep us operational. Would you consider making a gift to CMCS today? And please keep us in your prayers as we seek to keep you informed and holy. |

PS. Your support helps CMCS continue to thrive and prosper as a ministry to men. CMCS is dependent upon the financial help of people like you to keep our outreach going strong, and would not be possible without your support. The average donation contribution is $35.00, and our expenses will be $700.00 over the next four months. Please help CMCS continue debt-free with our motto of 'Living the Goodness of a Catholic Man'. Thank you in advance for your generosity! |
