| This Stargate (1981) machine was donated by Billy Joe Cain. Billy was the winner of the 1982 First Annual Texas Video Game Championships for the game Defender. Upon winning, he was awarded a Stargate machine and over the years he was able to have it signed by legendary videogame creators Eugene Jarvis & Larry DeMar. Billy was kind enough to donate this machine and a Defender arcade cabinet along with his trophies and other memorabilia. Maybe it’s time to hold the 2nd Annual Texas Video Game Championships! Who’s in?? |

| Starfighter Sanvein is an arcade-style shooting game released for the Sony PlayStation in 2000. After selecting a ship type and special weapon, the game lets players freely pick stages from the hex grid display - many of which can be completed in under 10 seconds! Completing stages powers up a ship's attack so that it can quickly dispatch bosses and gain large time bonuses. Time isn't just for score here - remaining time functions as an HP bar for players. Run out of time and it's game over. For those that like to get straight to the action - this is the game for you! |

Anyone for a game of Atari Pro Darts? What’s that? You don’t remember that one? That’s because this extremely rare Atari prototype board game was recently donated to the museum by former employee Dan Corona. Apparently, Atari had started dabbling with electronic board games; no T.V. required, just (6) C batteries. This amazing foray into board games was just one of the many pots that Atari had its hands in. Now on display in the museum! |

No new high scores this month. Keep at it, players!

Here's another look into NVM's rarities case - It's The Amazing Spider-Man: Web of Fire for the short-lived Sega 32x! While the game itself is less than amazing, its rarity is another story. As the last game released for the system in 1996 - with both the PlayStation and the Nintendo 64 dominating the scene - there was little incentive or demand for copies. Today, it's one of the top two rarest games (out of 40 total) for the Sega 32x. |
|
Monetary donations are always appreciated as there are significant costs involved in managing, maintaining, building and displaying a collection as large as the NVM archive.
Even if you can't help monetarily, we are always looking for games and consoles to add to our library. Due to the highly interactive nature of the museum, systems go down all the time and are in need of replacement or repair parts. If you have any unused consoles, computers or games around the house, please drop them off at the museum or email us at [email protected] and we'll give them a good home! |
