Science news

The skies are offering an everchanging opportunity to learn more about the universe, from cosmic phenomena such as the Tasmanian devil - an explosion that's not well understood - to the so-called Steve, a a fast-moving stream of hot particles that appear as a ribbon of purple light, which appeared over Scotland recently.

What we're watching

Dark winter nights are the perfect backdrop to a night on the sofa with a TV series. Netflix's Bodies plays with time as detectives of various eras solve the same murder, while Life on Our Planet is rooted in reality and never fails to fascinate.
