📚Our Journey with Schools continues: Inaugural Meeting with Gdańsk Students 🏫

Image description

Project Butterfly's ongoing collaboration with schools in Italy, Poland, and Finland reached an important milestone with the inaugural meeting involving students from High School No. 6 in Gdańsk. During this significant encounter, our team had the opportunity to introduce the students to the project's objectives and aims.

The meeting also provided students with a firsthand experience with the central theme of water, which will play a pivotal role in the story they are about to create. This productive interaction was made possible through the efforts of Aleksandra Filipek, the project coordinator from Baltic Opera, and partners at the Gdańsk Water Foundation. We look forward to witnessing the creative journey of these students as they embark on this exciting project.

Sustainability in the world of Opera

At Project Butterfly, we are pleased to present other great initiatives aimed at integrating sustainability in the world of Opera

Our first article showcases Next Stage Initative, launched in 2021, which focused on three pillars, Sustainability, Equality, and Digital Transformation, to promote an innovation in the world of opera and dance. This initiative, in partnership with Opera Europa and FEDORA (the European Circle of Philanthropists of Opera and Ballet) and funded by Creative Europe, has provided grants to five projects that share their goals. Thanks to this meaningful iniative, the world of Opera and dance is taking furhter steps in its process of innovation and integrationg of green practices.

In this other article, we present the excellent work being done by Brussels'  Opera La Monnaie, which is taking steps in making opera more sustainable. Their approach involves the reduction of CO2 emissions, the promotion of eco-friendly transportation, and the adoption of sustainable materials for stage sets. Additionally, they have improved energy efficiency, leading to a 28% reduction in gas and a 10% reduction in electricity consumption. Waste reduction, responsible purchasing practices, and staff training complete their strategy. La Monnaie's commitment to sustainability is not only setting an example but also in sync with the European Union's 2030 environmental targets, making it one of the leaders in the opera world.

Project Butterly's Collaborative Momentum

In order to foster innovation, sustainability, and inclusivity in the world of opera, Project Butterfly is actively engaging in a series of crucial meetings with its partners. These sessions are dedicated to enhancing collaboration and ensuring coordination among our diverse partners across Europe.

During these gatherings, we delve deeply into our work, setting clear objectives. Our primary focus is on harmonizing the creative energies of our three opera partners: Teatro Comunale di Modena, Opera Bałtycka, and Opera Box, while fostering a sense of unity among our international network, which includes Heimspiel and AESS.

We eagerly anticipate sharing further information about our collaborative journey in the near future. 🎵🤝🌍
