The Black Sea’s main litter source are the riverine outputs that drain into the marine environment (The Danube, Dniester and Dnipro are the largest). The impact of tourism is also a key factor as part of a global environmental problem. Our work is helping to identify accumulation zones to inform cleanup efforts.

In spite of the war in their country, our partners in Ukraine continue to be one of the most active contributors to our project. We are honoured to share this update from our friends at National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine which covers their involvement in our research cruises and some critical cultural heritage work.
