SEFI Annual Conference - the biggest conference on the latest research in engineering education in Europe - will be organised by the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya in Barcelona. We are delighted to announce that the call for papers is officially open and you may submit your abstracts until 19 March 2022.

CALL FOR CANDIDATES: SEFI Elections 2022

The SEFI elections will take place on the occasion of the 2022 SEFI General Assembly in September. The General Assembly will take place during the SEFI Annual Conference in Barcelona.

We invite our members to present their candidatures for :

  • 1 Vice President (2-year mandate)
  • 6 Board members (3-year mandate)

Members of SEFI, who have paid their annual membership fee and are interested in these positions, are invited to send their CV, a motivation letter, and the filled-in endorsement form to President [email protected] and the SEFI office [email protected] before 1 May 2022.

SEFI 2024 Annual Conference

SEFI Institutional members are invited to send a candidature to organise the SEFI 2024 Annual Conference. Letter of intent needs to be signed by the rector or president of the submitting institution and sent to SEFI office until 31 March 2022. Engineering ethics education and social justice: synthesis and growth

31st March and 1st April 2022 - Leysin, Switzerland. Registration is now open for the SEFI Engineering Ethics Spring School 2022 which will take place in Leysin Switzlerland on 31st March and 1st April 2022. The Spring School theme is “Engineering ethics education and social justice: synthesis and growth”.

Spring school sessions will include:
             - Using emotions in engineering education to bridge the divide between micro and macro ethics

             - Research methods to examine the ethical culture of a university

             - Using digital games for the teaching and learning of ethics in STEM

             - An asset-based approach to reframing engineering ethics education

             - Masculinities and ethics in engineering education

11 - 13 May 2022 - Tampere, Finland. We would like to invite you to attend the 11th International Conference on Physics Teaching in Engineering Education organised at the Tampere University of Applied Sciences. The topic covers all aspects of learning natural sciences in the STEM field: theory, laboratory work, field work, programming, assessment, assignments, pedagogical aspects, projects, interdisciplinarity etc. The submission deadline has been extended, you may submit your papers by 8 March. More information.

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS: SEFI Ethics SIG co-chair

The SEFI Ethics SIG invites nominations for the role of co-chair of the SIG. Nominations should be received by 7 March. A poll to select the SIG’s proposed co-chair will take place on the week of the Ethics Spring School (31st March – 1st April 2022). The SEFI Ethics SIG newsletter is reducing the frequency of the newsletters to every 2 months, expecting the following deliverables in April and June. In the new edition, there will be a  higher emphasis on editorials and fewer research or event items. Keep an eye out for the upcoming newsletter!

Adapting to Global Disruption: meeting the challenge with integrative, holistic, and sustainable engineering

28 November - 1 December 2022 - Cape Town, South Africa. For years the WEEF & GEDC conferences have been invaluable forums where educators, students, engineers and industry representatives have gathered to prepare for a future of global disruption. The past two years have accelerated the global reality as the Covid-19 pandemic has firmly planted us in a state of global disruption. 

Call for papers is now open and the deadline for abstracts is 31 March.

06-10 June 2022 - Uniersity at Buffalo, US. The 2022 IACEE World Conference takes place in the scenic Buffalo-Niagara region of Western New York State (USA). Hosted by the State University of New York at Buffalo, the conference features in-person sessions, Keynote, networking, and social events.

For those unable to attend in person, a virtual option will be available for session viewing only.

04 - 20 March 2022 - France. IESF will hold its National Engineering Days 2022 inaugural event on 4 March, completely online. The theme of the national conference will be based on the hydrogen ecosystem at the heart of current events and in connection with the proposals published in its White Paper, which can be purchased on the IESF website.
