| In the work of Bible translation, we sometimes forget that the work was already done in the birth of Jesus. |
When Jesus was born in Bethlehem, he demonstrated that the best way to bring God's word to people is in person. In Tech Advance, we can focus on the technology, or on the techniques we use to support Bible translation. |
Sometimes, we are the tool. We've been finding that since we added the Telegram groups we've had a much closer relationship with the people who need our help. Not only that, but as questions are being asked, people who aren't exactly part of Tech Advance are able to answer the questions out of their own experience. |
This is part of our ministry: being personally present. Unlike the Holy Spirit, we can't be present with every translator at the same time, but modern technology has enabled us to be more present with more people than at any previous time. |
I hope that each of you enjoys a time of grace with your families and churches as we remember the birth of Jesus, but I also trust that you will see the ways that God has called each of us to interact personally with the other members of His body who are engaged in Bible translation (and with those who haven't yet partnered with us). As we give of our time and attention, God will bring growth. Even some who initially joined for the wrong reasons (thinking that they would get rich, or looking for gifts of technology) may be touched by the Spirit of God as they work with His word and see their lives transformed by the power of the Good News. |

Our next newsletter will come right before the next Hackathon in January. If possible, I will include some information about the projects that are being suggested for that event. |
