Nova Scotia Advisory of the Coalition for Healthy School Food📣

We are excited to announce the formation of the NS Advisory of the Coalition for Healthy School Food. The NS Advisory provides provincial representation, bringing together stakeholders from regions and sectors across NS to engage in dialogue, share resources, and collaborate on collective advocacy for a Canada-wide school food program.

The incoming government's platform has committed to “work with our provincial, territorial, municipal, Indigenous partners, and stakeholders to develop a National School Food Policy and work towards a national school nutritious meal program with a $1 billion dollar investment over five years”, “to help children grow and learn”.

The NS Advisory is meeting with Members of Parliament across the province to discuss the importance of school food and ask for their support.

Congratulate your MP on their election success and let them know you are counting on them to take action on a school food program for Canada.

Farm to School Canada Grants are now open! Grants are designed to bring more healthy, local foods into school communities. They support hands-on food literacy, including growing, harvesting and cooking food at school; and school meal services such as salad bars that allow students to build their own bowls or create their own plates.
