Proof of COVID 19 vaccination will not be required to enter the church for worship services (Mass). Though social distancing and face coverings are still required.

However...

As of September 22nd, those attending events or meetings in our parish meeting spaces (halls or sacristy) will be required to provide proof of full COVID vaccination or a letter of exemption from a doctor.

Of course, those attending events or meetings in our parish hall are still required to provide contact tracing details, maintain social distancing and wear a face covering.

New Diocese of Peterborough Vaccine Policy for Clergy, Staff, Vendors and Volunteers

Following the directions of the Provincial Government, the Diocese of Peterborough has released a COVID Vaccination Policy for clergy, staff, vendors and volunteers. Find the policy on the COVID 19 webpage.

All who serve our parish as volunteers are invited to a discussion on Saturday, October 16th at 8:45am in the church and online. We'll discuss how the new policy may affect our ministry. The discussion is preceded by a Mass offered for the intentions of those who serve our parish at 8:00am.

We Observe Truth and Reconciliation

To observe the day for Truth and Reconciliation, many gathered in our church for some prayer and to welcome a guest speaker, Paul Baines, speak about the challenges many communities face in accessing clean drinking water.

Let us continue to pray that our efforts, prayers and thoughts today plant seeds that lead to true Truth and Reconciliation.

Pray along and watch the discussion

Our Bishops Continue Working For Truth and Reconciliation Too

The Catholic Bishops of Canada gathered in Plenary last week and issued an unequivocal apology for the Church’s role in the residential school system and the suffering of Indigenous Peoples in Canada. The Bishops are profoundly saddened by the residential school  legacy and are fully committed to working with Indigenous Peoples and communities across the country to support healing and reconciliation. Further, the Bishops acknowledge the grave abuses that were committed by some members of the Catholic community; physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and sexual.

As a tangible expression of their commitment to walk with the Indigenous Peoples of this land along the pathway of hope, our Bishops have made a nationwide collective financial commitment to support healing and reconciliation initiatives for residential school survivors, their families and communities.
With a target of $30 million over five years, this will include initiatives in every region of the country. Efforts will be informed by a meaningful conversation with the Indigenous Peoples with whom we share the land.

Thank you for discerning your call, Peter Lukow

As Peter takes this step, please keep him in your prayers!

Seminarian Peter Lukow was ordained a Transitional Deacon by Bishop Daniel Miehm on the Feast of St. Therese, Friday Oct 1st at St. Therese Church in Courtice. This is the final step in Peter’s formation before he is ordained to the priesthood in the spring.

A link to watch the ordination will be available on the Diocese of Peterborough website.

Please keep in your thoughts and prayers...

those who have died, especially...

Jesus, Our Lord, we ask you to have mercy on all who are sick. Give them your strength and love and help them carry this cross with faith. May their sufferings be one with yours, overcome the power of evil and lead others to our Father in Heaven. Lord Jesus, hear our prayer, for you are Lord forever and ever. Amen.

Put your empty bottles to good use

Image description

Each year, the Knights of Columbus give thousands of dollars away to different charities and special needs. Much of what is given comes from an ongoing bottle collection program that everyone can participate in.

Knowing how this program helps many, the Knights of Columbus are grateful to all those who support this effort especially during the challenges of the past year when some traditional sources of revenue have been interrupted. A single bottle may not seem like a lot, but every bit of assistance helps sponsor worthy causes.

Empties can be put into the collection box found at the rear of our church beneath the red stairs any time. Vivat Jesus and God Bless.
