NAMI RESOURCE - NAVIGATING A MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS

NAMI developed this guide to support people experiencing mental health crises, their friends and families by providing important, sometimes lifesaving information.

This guide outlines what can contribute to a crisis, warning signs that a crisis is emerging, strategies to help de-escalate a crisis and resources that may be available for those affected. Also included is information about advocating for a person in crisis along with a sample crisis plan.

A Personal Experience With Psychosis

NAMI Family to Family and NAMI Family and Friends provide information about what it's like to live with mental health conditions like Schizophrenia, Schizo-effective and Bi-Polar disorders.

It can be confusing and difficult to understand what a loved one is experiencing as a result of any of these diagnoses.

Lauren, of the Living Well With Schizophrenia YouTube channel, generously shares her experience living with a mental health condition such as Schizo-effective disorder and offers detailed explanations of how this impacts her life.

Lauren shares many videos on topics related to her mental health experience on her channel. The following video links provide insight that can be helpful in our efforts to better understand what might be happening for our loved ones when they experience symptoms of mental health conditions. (Please note, not all people have the same experience.)
