Padma has been attending the local monthly meetings for the Board of Health and making occasional public comments at the beginning of the meetings. She also attends the monthly Chronic Diseases Action Team meetings when timing allows — the next one is on September 3rd.
She's also been monitoring the national reproductive health scene through websites, blogs, and newsletters and shared this statement: "We live in a state where abortion remains "legal," but where there are either significant restrictions, shorter gestational limits, ongoing litigation, or limited state protections that make access a lot less secure." Paul continues to attend meetings of the Henderson County Housing Coalition (HCHD), which was set up to address Housing as one of three major barriers to health in the cycle of Community Health Assessments. The organization and goals of the HCHD website are still being developed.
Paul regularly attends the Henderson County Board of Health’s monthly meetings. The information provided by the Henderson County Department of Public Health mostly resonates; but there have been opportunities for public comments, especially regarding the Department of Health & Human Services mendacious (untruthful) trashing of public health.
Paul participates as 1 of 4 leaders of PERSIST, working on community political projects. Their projects include demonstrating at City Council (9/3) and Board of Commissioners (9/8) meetings regarding the Flock Cameras as well as working with other progressive groups to organize the next No Kings action on Saturday October 17.

Betsy attends PFLAG meetings when possible, participates in the "Under 50s" progressive voices group, writes articles to the general public about events the PAHC sponsors (among others), and is involved with current efforts to remove intrusive surveillance cameras from Henderson County.
Betsy just took over running the Hendersonville Pride Book Club and tries to attend local meetings, vigils, rallies, and other events of public interest.
