Empowering Futures Through Skills: AIBT to AIHE Pathways

At Adelaide Education Group (AEG), education does not have to follow a single pathway. Through the strong articulation between our Adelaide Institute of Business & Technology (AIBT) and the Adelaide Institute of Higher Education (AIHE), students can build their qualifications progressively, gaining practical skills while working towards an Australian higher education degree.

AIBT graduates may receive significant credit towards AIHE programs. The Advanced Diploma of Business can provide up to 12 units of credit towards the Bachelor of Business, while the Diploma of Business can provide up to 8 units of credit. For those progressing to postgraduate study, eligible AIBT Graduate Diploma qualifications can provide up to 8 units of credit towards AIHE’s Master of Business Administration (MBA), potentially reducing the MBA study period to approximately 12 months.

With study options in Adelaide and Melbourne, these pathways bring together AIBT’s focus on practical, career-oriented skills and AIHE’s higher education programs, giving students a more flexible and efficient way to progress their education within the AEG family.

AEG at the Connecting to Thrive 2026 Regional Workshop

AEG was pleased to participate in the 2026 SACE International Regional Workshop, held on 24–25 August at Haileybury Tianjin in China. Under the theme “Connecting to Thrive”, the workshop brought together education leaders and partners from across the region to exchange ideas, strengthen connections, and explore opportunities for international education.

AEG’s participation reflects our commitment to building meaningful global partnerships and expanding pathways that connect secondary, vocational, and higher education. With AIS delivering the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE), and pathways across AIBT and AIHE, AEG continues to strengthen an integrated education journey that gives students greater choice and opportunities for future success.

AEG Proudly Supports Philippine Culture and Community Through Forgotten Island

AEG is proud to be the Event Major Sponsor of the private screening of Forgotten Island, a film inspired by Philippine culture and folklore and featuring the voice of internationally acclaimed Philippine artist Lea Salonga. Presented by the University of the Philippines Alumni Association of South Australia (UPAA-SA) and the Filipino Association of South Australia Inc. (FIL-ASA), the screening will be held on Saturday, 19 September 2026 at Palace Nova Prospect, bringing the community together to celebrate Philippine stories, creativity, and culture.

AEG, together with its schools, AIHE, AIBT, Adelaide International School (AIS), and Intensive English Language Centre (IELC), is pleased to support an initiative that strengthens cultural connection and community engagement. With proceeds supporting the activities, programs, and initiatives of UPAA-SA and FIL-ASA, we are delighted to help make this special event possible and to celebrate the vibrant Philippine community in South Australia.

Celebrating Malaysia’s Merdeka, Excellence and Community

The Australia Malaysia Business Council SA (AMBC SA) Annual Merdeka Awards & Charity Gala Dinner was held on 29 August at the Adelaide Convention Centre, bringing together business, education, government, and community leaders to celebrate Malaysia’s Independence Day and the strong relationship between Malaysia and South Australia. The evening celebrated achievement, culture, and community while supporting an important charitable cause.

AEG was proud to once again support and attend this important annual event, represented by its schools, AIHE, AIBT, AIS, and IELC. AEG values its longstanding connections with the Malaysian community and remains committed to strengthening educational pathways, partnerships, and opportunities between Malaysia and Australia.

It was great to have Maryseth Olabre, AEG Corporate Services Operations Manager, at our Melbourne Campus recently, spending time with colleagues and connecting with the teams on the ground.

No Bachelor’s Degree? You Can Still Work Towards an MBA at AIHE

A bachelor’s degree is not the only pathway to postgraduate business study at the AIHE. Our Graduate Certificate offers an alternative pathway to the MBA, recognising that substantial industry and management experience can also prepare you for postgraduate study.

You may be eligible for entry to the Graduate Certificate with an Australian Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree (or equivalent) plus at least two years of industry experience at supervisory level, or with at least five years of industry experience, including at least three years in management or supervisory roles. This means experienced professionals without a bachelor’s degree can have a pathway towards an MBA.

Complete the Graduate Certificate in six months, and its four units can count towards AIHE’s Master of Business Administration (MBA). Progress to the MBA and complete the remaining 12 units over 18 months.

Building a Stronger Research Culture

at AIHE

AIHE brought our academic community together for a Professional Development Session on “Publishing in Quality Journals: Practical Strategies for Academic Success”, led by guest speaker Dr. Luckmika Perera FCPA CA GAICD MACS.

From choosing the right journal and navigating rankings to developing a publication strategy and responding effectively to reviewer feedback, the session offered practical insights that academics can take directly into their research and publishing journey. Sessions like this are an important part of AIHE’s commitment to building a vibrant research culture, strengthening academic capability, and supporting our academics to produce quality research with meaningful impact.

AIHE Head of School Presents at the Second International Conference on Innovation and Development 2026

We are pleased to share that Dr Wasana Jayawickramarathna, Head of School at the AIHE, recently presented her research at the Second International Conference on Innovation and Development 2026, hosted by Victoria University in Melbourne. Her presentation, “Navigating Dual Transitions: A Conceptual Framework for Generative AI Adoption and Critical AI Engagement Among International Students in Australian Higher Education,” explored how international students engage with generative AI while developing the critical capabilities needed to use these technologies effectively and responsibly.

As Head of School, Dr Jayawickramarathna leads AIHE’s academic team in building a progressive, robust, and contemporary academic environment grounded in quality teaching, research, innovation, and continuous improvement. This academic leadership is further supported by the ARI, AIHE’s research arm, strengthening the connection between teaching, scholarship, and research across the Institute. As a member of the AEG, AIHE contributes to a broader education ecosystem committed to creating pathways, advancing knowledge.

Dr Samadi Madiwala Presents Research on Sustainable Organisational Transformation

Dr Samadi Madiwala, Lecturer at the AIHE, also presented her research at the Second International Conference on Innovation and Development 2026, hosted by Victoria University in Melbourne. Her presentation, “From Crisis Response to Sustainable Transformation: A Dynamic Capabilities View of Crisis-Induced Human Resource Practices,” explored how organisations can move beyond short-term crisis responses towards sustainable transformation. Her contribution reflects the growing culture of research and scholarly engagement at AIHE, supported by the ARI, AIHE’s research arm, and strengthens AIHE’s contribution as a member of the AEG to contemporary, research-informed business education.

Dr Faisal Abdullah Strengthens AIHE’s Academic Engagement in Indonesia

AIHE is proud to see Dr Faisal Abdullah, one of our academics, representing the Institute through three international academic engagements with leading Indonesian public higher education institutions, UIN Alauddin Makassar and Politeknik Negeri Ujung Pandang.

Across the three engagements, Dr Abdullah shared his expertise on Islamic finance and financial literacy for poverty alleviation, preparing future accountants and financial professionals for a digital and sustainable economy, and multidisciplinary economic strategies and Islamic ethical finance for global economic resilience. His contributions brought together important conversations around financial inclusion, sustainability, digital transformation, and responsible economic development.

These engagements strengthen AIHE’s academic connections in Indonesia and demonstrate how our academics contribute beyond the classroom by sharing knowledge, exchanging ideas with international colleagues and students, and engaging with issues of global significance.

A Major Milestone for AIBT: Seven-Year RTO and CRICOS Renewals

Congratulations to AIBT on the successful renewal of its National Vocational Education and Training Regulator registered training organisation (RTO) and CRICOS registrations for another seven years. This significant milestone provides a strong foundation for AIBT’s next phase of growth and reflects its continuing commitment to quality vocational education and training, regulatory compliance, and positive outcomes for domestic and international students.

Discover the World of Cybersecurity

at AIBT’s ICT Immersion Day

AIBT is hosting a FREE ICT Immersion Day on Thursday, 3 September 2026, giving students the opportunity to explore the exciting world of IT and cybersecurity.

Participants will experience fun and interactive activities designed to introduce them to Certificate III in Information Technology (Cyber Focus) and discover the skills and career opportunities available in the IT industry.

The event will be held at the AIBT Campus, Level 5, 127 Rundle Mall, SA 5000, with morning and afternoon sessions available.

Students can choose from 9:30 AM–11:30 AM or 12:30 PM–3:30 PM.

This is a great opportunity to get hands-on, explore cybersecurity, and discover where a future in IT could take you.

Diploma of Community Services Students Explore Hahndorf

Our Diploma of Community Services students recently visited Hahndorf as part of CHCCCS007 – Develop and Implement Service Programs.

Through a community mapping walk and a visit to the Hahndorf Institute and Community Centre, students explored how local facilities promote connection, inclusion, and community development.

The excursion also provided opportunities to discuss cultural awareness, diversity, community identity, and inclusive practice, strengthening students’ understanding of how community services professionals support diverse communities.

Communicating, Building & Creating

at IELC

IELC students put their teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills to the test through a fun Newspaper Tower Engineering Challenge.

Working in teams, students planned, designed, and built a freestanding tower using only newspaper and tape. Along the way, they practised English by sharing ideas, negotiating solutions, giving instructions, and making decisions together.

The activity provided a hands-on way to develop English skills while encouraging creativity, collaboration, communication, and problem-solving.
