Roald Dahl's Revolting Rhymes - A Storytelling Event for Pupils of Woodmansterne School, Auditions 1st and 4th of September |
The next STC production will be Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes. We will be performing these short stories as an interactive storytelling event at Woodmansterne Primary School. It will not be a public performance, and the audience will be made-up of the school pupils. On Monday 21st September we will be reading to years 1 to 3 and on Friday 25th September 2026 to years 4 to 6. There will be about 300 children in the audience for each performance.
Each rhyme is about 5 minutes long and we need actors to read one or more of the rhymes. It will not be necessary to learn the words, but you will be expected to rehearse to learn the stories so that they can be presented in an engaging and fun way.
The ISBN number for the book is 978-0-241-56874-3 if you wish to look at it in advance of the auditions. However, we will be supplying the scripts so no need to buy your own copy.
You will need to be available for one or both of the events from approximately 13.00 to 15.00. Note these are both mid-week and work days. |
Auditions will take place at Vinters Studios, 1b, Sunnyhill Road, Streatham on Tuesday 1st and Friday 4th September from 19.00 to 21.00. They are open to STC members and non-members, but you will have to join STC if you want to perform. Please let us know in advance if you are coming if you can. If you are not available contact us and we may be able arrange an alternative audition. |

Puss in Boots on October 13th |
In October, in anticipation of our potential Spring panto (script yet to be confirmed), we will be getting in the mood by reading a panto script, Puss in Boots, by Ben Crocker. As an introduction, Ben says, "It's a modern, fast paced and very funny script which benefits from all the best loved pantomime traditions." You can read his really interesting panto biography here About | Ben Crocker | Pantomime Scripts.
A link to access the script will be available in the next newsletter and on our website soon. |

Twelfth Night was a Triumph! |
William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night performed in the Rookery Gardens from August the 21st to the 23rd, was STC's first open-air show and an unqualified triumph! Audience numbers were excellent - the Sunday afternoon show sold out 100 tickets online and the Friday and Saturday shows each sold well over 50 tickets. |
Audience feedback was music to our ears. One audience member compared us extremely favourably to the professional companies that regularly perform at the Rookery, and a number said they were looking forward to next year's show. |
Our thanks go to the directors Lizzie Hartree and Robin Bracken-Kemish and their hard-working cast, seen above relaxing after a very successful run. |
Finally, we couldn't resist this pic of Malvolio's famous yellow stockings and cross garters! |
