As Canada celebrated its 158th birthday on July 1st, President Trump's proposal to join the U.S.
as 51st state, came back to mind.

"Not a Snowball's Chance in Hell !"  had been the explicit response of Canada's Prime Minister (then Justin Trudeau), and most Canadians regarded Trump's suggestion as ludicrous.
Why would any self-respecting Canadian want to join the States in the first place – given their high crime rate, expensive health care, political corruption, support of rogue regimes, growing repression, near-constant wars, and an unsustainably soaring debt?
Actually, it would make more sense for Americans to move to Canada,

Canada's government is not controlled by a certain middle eastern rogue state, with megalomaniacal aspirations, represented by a powerful financial lobby that makes the mighty(?) U.S.A. dance to its tune.

10) ...Canada believes in freedom, independence, and cooperation. It does not scheme to topple foreign governments it does not like.

14) ...Canada has practically no enemies, is therefore not a likely target for missile attacks, and has no need for Mr. Trump's 'Golden Dome'  missile shield (free, if Canada becomes the 51st state), which is actually rather useless against advanced ICBMs.

16) ...Canada has no capital punishment – that brutish relic from the Dark Ages, long abolished by enlightened, civilized countries.

17) ...Canada has a low crime rate.  In 2022, there were 1.98 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants in Canada, but 5.76 in the U.S.

22) Last but not least... Canada's Taiga Works®  company produces some of the world's finest outdoor gear ! Fortunately, you can also get this shipped to the U.S. – although Trump's blasted tariffs make it more expensive than in Canada.

With all these advantages, who wouldn't want to move to Canada ???

The last person to leave the U.S., please don't forget to turn off the lights.
Thank you!
