GER CARRIERE CLAIMS HER MOMENT ON “LEGENDARY”

Featuring Hakuum, Carriere’s latest single turns retro pop polish into an anthem for the underdogs

September 22, 2026 (Cumberland House, SK) // Ger Carriere just dropped her new song, “Legendary”, one of the last tracks from her upcoming EP, featuring Indigenous singer-songwriter Hakuum. Driven by punchy drums, bright synths, and chant-ready refrains, the track has arena-ready energy. Although the production leans more retro pop, Carriere has produced something far more enduring than a ‘nostalgia bop.’ It’s about turning what tried to break you into proof of what you can become.

“Legendary” begins with brazen ambition: the desire for a life that feels bigger than the circumstances that came before it. Carriere begins there, then widens the frame. The “I” becomes “you,” then  “we.” By the time the chorus lands, becoming legendary has little to do with celebrity and everything to do with reclaiming identity and possibility. Ger understands that sometimes you need to believe you are capable of something extraordinary before you have any evidence that you are.

Listen to “Legendary” HERE

The song's sports anthem DNA comes through in a lean, spacious arrangement. Synths  and drums drive the momentum while the choral vocals have you standing in the roaring crowd of the bleachers. Using the arc of an athlete’s journey, “Legendary” connects the dedication of sport to self-realization: developing skills, enduring setbacks, and finally standing at the winner’s podium after life has given you every reason not to.

For Carriere, that tenacity is also rooted in Indigenous identity and collective memory. “Legendary” acknowledges the pain carried through her peoples’ histories and sacrifices, but refuses to stop at survival. Here, finding oneself again and keeping the flame alive signifies reconnection with identity, culture, community, ancestry, and other possibilities for the future. Resilience is not passive acceptance; it is the choice to be loud, to succeed, and to help others do the same.

Hakuum’s presence deepens that collective feeling. The song returns to the idea that no one becomes legendary entirely alone: one person rises, someone else sees it, and the possibility expands. The result feels less like a declaration from a solo protagonist than a torch passed from one person to another. Its biggest statement is also its simplest: I can. You can. We can.

The track continues Carriere’s run of catalogue that refuses to stay in one lane. “Can I Be Her” reached #1 on the Indigenous Music Countdown after earning a Real People Playoffs win, five weeks on MBC, induction into the MBC Hall of Fame, and seven consecutive weeks at #1 on the Sask INDG Countdown. “Are You My Type” reached #4 on the Saskatchewan Indigenous Top 5 Countdown, while “Honeybees” reached #5 on the Indigenous Music Countdown and spent two weeks in the Real People Playoffs. “When We Were On Mars” followed with a softer, more sensual take on her pop instincts. Now “Legendary” moves in the opposite direction, giving those instincts an arena-sized stage.

For anyone paying attention to where pop is heading before the rest of the room catches up, Carriere is becoming increasingly difficult to overlook.
