Dear members, residents and councillors
Kingston's new Local Plan has consumed much of our time recently. We urge you to engage in this opportunity to comment on its legality and "soundness" and attend the Kingston Society public meeting this Wednesday if you can.
Read on, too, for updates on revised proposals for the back garden development at 13-15 Leatherhead Road, UK Power Networks project, Spring School and the closure of the Post Office at North Parade. We have a fascinating article about robotic assisted surgery at Kingston Hospital and, if you're looking for activities to keep children entertained, we have some ideas.

| | Kingston’s Local Plan meeting 29th July, 7.30pm |

The future of our borough is being decided right now. We urge you to comment on Kingston’s Local Plan. At this stage – called Regulation 19 - your comments should be on the plan’s legality and ‘soundness’. The Kingston Society has arranged a public meeting at Tiffin School in Kingston. Please attend if you can. There are significant developments planned for Chessington including Hook Park. CDRA’s views on the plan, tips for residents' on how to submit a comment, information about the Kingston Society meeting and Kingston Council's own Local Plan drop-ins can be found on our website. |

| | 13-15 Leatherhead Road – developer revises plans |
|
The developers of a proposed back garden development at the rear of 13-15 Leatherhead Road which was refused planning permission in 2025 have returned with revised plans. CDRA arranged a meeting with residents to discuss the developer’s new proposals. |

| | Works are progressing well along Leatherhead Road to the Bridge Road roundabout. This section will conclude on 13th August. They will then be working on the section between the Bridge Road roundabout to the Ace until November. Works will be in the central reservation, reducing the carriageway to one lane on either side. |

| | Robotic surgery at Kingston Hospital |
|
Cutting edge robotic assisted surgery, UK leading techniques and a new approach to thyroid treatment – it’s all happening at Kingston Hospital. CDRA heard from one of the UK’s most experienced ENT specialists, Mr Enyi Ofo, at July’s Kingston and Richmond NHS Trust Board meeting. |

| | New Playzone for Churchfields |
|
Churchfields in Chessington is one of four locations in the Royal Borough of Kingston that will have a new PlayZone installed, subject to planning permission. PlayZones are safe, inclusive outdoor sports spaces that encourage all ages to get active through football, basketball, cricket and more. |

|
Chessington North is set to lose its Post Office as Morrisons on North Parade closes its store on 8th August - a change many residents will feel. We’ve been speaking with retailers and Post Office HQ. |

The Kingston Society has organised a public meeting to discuss Kingston’s Draft Local Plan with Hannah Harris, Kingston Council’s Corporate Head of Spatial Planning. Hannah will explain the emerging Local Plan, the choices facing the borough and the opportunities for residents to influence what happens next. |

Police Ward Panel Meeting |

Everyone is welcome to join these informal quarterly meetings where our safer neighbourhood police team, the council and residents from the South of the Borough neighbourhood come together to discuss issues in our area, share information and find solutions. At this meeting Daniel Sykes, Cyber Protect Officer, Surrey Police will be giving a highly useful and practical talk about keeping safe online and avoiding the scammers. The meeting also includes a report of local crime statistics and information on recent incidents. |
