July 2026 Newsletter

The constant news cycle has a way of making the world feel overwhelming and dark, but this month has reminded us of something important: community is what gets us through. We've celebrated together, grieved together, and continued organizing for the future we believe in. Thank you for being part of this community. We hope this month's updates leave you feeling a little more connected and serve as a reminder that, through it all, community is what sustains us.

July 9th 5:30pm - Hendersonville Green Drinks at The Local Table.

Remembering & Honoring Neil Brown

Image description

With hearts full of sorrow, we share that Neil Brown has passed away after a two and a half year brave battle with cancer. He and his widow Nancy had served on the leadership group since our inception as Progressive Alliance, taking off the last number of months to be together with family as Neil's health declined. They brought so much to the table and we are forever grateful.

We shared our MORE PRIDE, LESS PREJUDICE booth with PERSIST, handed out Scott Lesser's amazing giveaway creations and offered glitter baths. In addition to our booth with Chris and Laura and our PERSIST comrades Holly and Laura B, Andy led the buoyant Brass Your Heart marching band, Padma was at the Pride booth, and Betsy provided a booth for Stir the Plot Books. Our thanks to Sheila for coordinating and David & Jesse for setting everything up again.

We Rose Up!

PAHC proudly joined PERSIST and 1st Congregational UCC to co-host a "Rise Up Sing Out!" No Kings June 14 concert watch party.  An enthusiastic crowd of about 75 patriots joined the fun at what was reported to be just one of 500 or more such watch parties nationwide!

Sunday, June 28th at the Historic Courthouse

Despite a drenching rain, folks steadily poured in, and the whole building was buzzing.

Organized by our friends at PERSIST, nearly 20 civic groups offered information and tangible ways to engage and make a difference. Once again, Progressive Alliance was well represented: Paul & Laura with PERSIST,  Laura & Sheila at the PAHC table, Sheila doing double duty with Public School Strong, Andy at the Brass Your Heart table and Chris at NAACP. We saw so many of you there and appreciate your ongoing support and enthusiasm.
