National Elevator Union Recruitment Window Opens July 6
The IUEC Local 85 in Lansing, MI recruitment covers Michigan west of I-75, north of the Indiana and Ohio border, and includes the Upper Peninsula.
Recruitment Window:
Applications will be accepted starting at 9am EDT on July 6, 2026, until the 350th application is requested or July 20, 2026, at 5pm EDT, whichever occurs first.
Please note that once all applications are requested, the recruitment is full. Recruitments can fill very quickly on the first day when it becomes active.
All requested applications must be completed and submitted by July 21, 2026, at 5pm EDT.
Application process:
Once the application period begins, go to https://www.neieprecruitment.org/ and select the correct IUEC Local under Active Recruitments and click apply.
All applications are accepted online only. No applications will be accepted in person. There is a mandatory non-refundable $25.00 application fee. If you have ever accepted a job as an apprentice in the IUEC, you may NOT apply to this recruitment.
Applicants must be at least 17 years of age to apply, and 18 years of age to be registered by the Local Joint Apprenticeship Committee. Applicants shall be a high school graduate or provide proof of equivalent educational attainment such as completion of the General Education Development (GED) tests. Each applicant shall upload, with the completed application, a high school transcript, or high school diploma, or an official report of GED test results. For students who have not graduated yet, they can submit a letter from their high school principal or guidance counselor stating they are on track to graduate this year. Those students can go through the application process and, if successful, be slotted on the hiring list but will not become active on the hiring list until they turn 18 and show proof of graduation as explained earlier.
All applicants must pass an examination designed to test the applicant’s reading, math skills, and aptitude for employment in the industry. Applicants will also take a Tool Assessment designed to assess knowledge of basic tools and their use, as well as basic measuring skills. Applicants must be capable of performing the physical requirements of the job without posing a threat to the health and safety of themselves or others. Upon selection for hire, applicants must pass a drug test that is paid for by the employer. A photo ID must be presented during the application process.
