Summer brings the joy of the native hibiscus. White, pink, and deep red flowers draw butterflies and bees to feast on the nectar.
Mature plants, grown from seed at Florabundance, are in stock now for just $10. Load up on different varieties or make a big statement with many of the same kind.
Either way, the native hibiscus will bring years of summer pleasure to your garden.
Swamp sunflowers take over and can grow up to 10 to 12 feet. They can be cut back in summer if you prefer a shorter flower. They will spread extensively, so they are not for everyone. If you have space and want to see butterflies in the fall and goldfinches in winter, then Swamp Sunflower is for you.
Dune sunflowers are low-growing, prefer excellent drainage and full sun, and tend to fall over and create mounds of 2–3-foot flowers. They sometimes die back and usually self-seed. Birds feast on their seeds.
