Draft Romsey Neighbourhood Plan Update |
|
Preparations for the public consultation on the Romsey Neighbourhood Plan are well underway, with Cllr Critchley finalising the Draft Plan, which is on track to be published on 1st September. Hard copies will be available at the Town Hall and library throughout the consultation period, alongside a digital version on the Council website. A Town Hall drop-in session will run from Monday 14th to Friday 18th September, 9am–5pm, giving residents the chance to speak to staff and pick up leaflets about the Plan. Advertising is already visible around town, with posters and A5 leaflets available at the Town Hall detailing consultation dates and locations. A banner will be on display outside the Town Hall from 27th August, and updates have been posted on the Town Council website and social media. Anyone with a shop window or noticeboard willing to display a poster is asked to get in touch, and further advertising in the Romsey Advertiser is being explored. The accompanying questionnaire is being finalised and will go live alongside the Draft Plan on 1st September. |

|
Meet at Romsey Station in time to catch the 08.52 to Portsmouth Harbour, arriving 09.53. Alternatively, drive to Portsmouth Park and Ride, and take the bus to The Hard Interchange, next to the ferry terminal. We would then meet for the 10.15 FastCat to Ryde. From Ryde, we walk (3 miles) to Seaview and have lunch there (option of a pub lunch). We then take a bus to Yaverland, and walk to Sandown (1.25 miles). (At Yaverland, there would be an optional visit to a zoo to see Uzbekistan bears.) From Sandown, we take a return bus to Ryde in time for the 15.45 FastCat to Portsmouth, to catch the 16.24 to Romsey, arriving 17.22. Either bring lunch and drinks, or purchase as we go. This is sadly the last edition to be edited by David Robinson. It has a joyous, upbeat feel to it and is a celebration of our town and RDS's continuing care for our surroundings and of our efforts.
Our Chair, Bob Jones, wrote: Since joining RDS I have continually been struck by the quality of our own magazine and the reflection of our involvement in local issues which it continues to reveal. People of Romsey care and it shows. RDS is at the centre of everything worthwhile in and around Romsey, as the articles show. Well done to David and his team on producing such a consistently high standard of production and content. He has set a high bar for the team and for future editions to maintain. This year's Annual Lecture will be presented by Dr Freddie Law Turner, Chair of Trustees at King John's House and Museum, entitled "From the Ashes – the Fall and Rise of King John’s House”. Freddie will talk about the history of King John's House, the fire of February 2025 and its impact, and future plans for the Grade I listed Hall, the museum and the heritage garden.
