Official Launch of Adelaide Education Group in Cambodia

A significant milestone for Adelaide Education Group (AEG) was marked on 8 July 2026 with the official launch of AEG in Cambodia, held in Phnom Penh. The occasion was officially launched by H.E. Dr. Hangchuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sport, underscoring the importance of strengthening educational collaboration between Cambodia and Australia. We were also honoured by the presence of H.E. Derek Yip, Australian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia, H.E. Dr. Kim Sethany, Permanent Secretary of State of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, and our President and Founder, Mr. Don Chen.


The launch reflects AEG's long-term commitment to expanding access to quality Australian education across the region. Through Adelaide Institute of Higher Education (AIHE), Adelaide Institute of Business and Technology (AIBT), Adelaide International School (AIS), Adelaide Research Institute (ARI), and Intensive English Language Centre (IELC), we look forward to creating new pathways for Cambodian students, fostering institutional partnerships, and supporting the development of future leaders. This is only the beginning of an exciting new chapter for AEG in Cambodia.

AEG was honoured to officially launch AEG and the IELC at Universitas Widya Mataram, Yogyakarta, marking another significant milestone in our commitment to expanding access to quality Australian education across Indonesia. We were privileged to be joined by the representative of the Honourable Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Mr. Aria Nugrahadi; the Head of the Agency for Higher Education Service in Region V, Prof. Setyabudi Indartono; the Acting Head of the Department of Education, Youth, and Sports, Mr. Muhammad Setiadi; Dr. (HC) Gusti Kanjeng Ratu Mangkubumi and the esteemed members of the Mataram Yogyakarta Foundation; the Rector of Universitas Widya Mataram, Prof. Edy Suandi Hamid; the University's academic leaders; and distinguished principals and teachers from across the region.


This launch reflects our shared vision of strengthening international educational collaboration and creating new pathways for students to develop English language proficiency and pursue further study in Australia. Horizon College International Visits AEG

AEG welcomes Mr Upul Daranagama, Chairman of Horizon College International, on his recent visit to our Adelaide and Melbourne campuses. Based in Sri Lanka, Horizon College International is a valued AEG partner dedicated to preparing students for global education opportunities. During his visit, Mr Daranagama met with AEG leadership, academic and professional staff, and students, gaining firsthand insight into the vibrant learning environment and student experience across AIHE, AIBT, and AIS. He also had the opportunity to meet with Mr Matt Clarke of the SACE Board of South Australia to discuss the South Australian Certificate of Education and explore opportunities to strengthen secondary education pathways between Sri Lanka and Australia.

Pre-Departure Session

The AIHE hosted a virtual Pre-Departure Session for commencing students across our Adelaide and Melbourne campuses, equipping them with the essential information needed for a smooth transition to student life.


The session covered pre-departure preparations, arrival essentials, first-week priorities, student support services, and practical tips to help students settle in with confidence.


At AIHE, we recognise that international education extends beyond the classroom. By equipping students with the knowledge and resources they need before departure, we help them begin their academic journey with confidence, clarity, and a strong sense of belonging.

Work Readiness Program

AIHE has relaunched its Work Readiness Program, offering a free four-part pilot series designed to help students develop the practical skills needed to succeed in the workplace.


The program covers key career preparation areas, including identifying strengths, creating effective résumés, writing impactful cover letters, and developing interview skills. Led by AIHE Work Readiness Advisor and Lecturer, Mr Marko Savovic, the sessions aim to support students in building confidence as they transition from study to employment.


Available to students across AIHE’s Adelaide and Melbourne campuses, with online access also provided, the program helps students take meaningful steps toward achieving their career goals.

After five years of dedicated service, AIBT recently celebrated the retirement of our valued trainer, Mr Andrew Inglis. Throughout his time with AIBT, Mr Inglis made a lasting impact as the trainer for our Certificate III in Business (Medical Administration), inspiring and supporting countless students through his knowledge, professionalism, and genuine commitment to their success. His warmth, generosity, and encouragement have made him a highly respected colleague and a much-loved member of the AIBT community.


As Mr Inglis embarks on a well-deserved retirement, we thank him for his invaluable contribution to AIBT and wish him every happiness in this exciting new chapter. We hope he enjoys spending more time with his grandchildren, pursuing his passions for art, sports, and books, and bringing his own book to life. AIBT welcomed the Service to Youth and Community (SYC) Team to campus this Term 3, providing students with the opportunity to learn about the free support services available to assist them throughout their study journey.

AIBT successfully hosted its first VET for Schools Meet & Greet, bringing together students from different partner schools for a casual networking session.

AIBT welcomed its new VET for Schools Fast Track students this July with an orientation session that introduced them to the campus and prepared them for their learning journey ahead.

Mr Noel Mifsud Named Among Australia’s Most Influential Educators for the Third Consecutive Year

AEG's AIS Board Chair Mr Noel Mifsud has been named one of Australia’s Most Influential Educators for the third consecutive year, earning a place on The Educator's prestigious national list in 2024, 2025, and 2026. The annual recognition celebrates educators, leaders, and innovators whose work is shaping schools, communities, and the broader education sector. With more than four decades of leadership in education, multicultural engagement, and governance, Mr Mifsud also serves as Chair of the Ministerial Multicultural Education and Languages Committee, a member of the Education Standards Board of South Australia, and Chair of Cornerstone College. His distinguished career has included 20 years as a school principal, service as a Captain in the Australian Army Education Corps, and international leadership across every continent, including Antarctica.


Mr Mifsud has been a strong advocate for education, inclusion, and intercultural understanding throughout his career. In 2025, he presented on Australian education, peace, and justice alongside the United Nations General Assembly in New York, and in 2026 commenced as Manager Community Relations at Rex Minerals, where he helped coordinate the Resources Sector Schools Immersion Program involving 155 students from nine schools across the Yorke Peninsula. "I am honoured to be recognised among Australia's most influential educators for a third consecutive year," said Mr Mifsud. "This recognition reflects the commitment of the many educators, schools, boards, organisations, and communities I have had the privilege to work alongside. Education remains one of our most powerful tools for creating global opportunity, understanding, and positive change."

At the end of Term 2, AIS students came together for an exciting House Competition Day, taking part in a range of activities that celebrated teamwork, school spirit, and friendly competition.
