We have another great selection of performers lined up for our third season of FREE lunchtime concerts. To kick us off we welcome back our friends from Forest Baroque. Then we have a new performer in May on early string instruments. All are welcome. Bring your lunch if you wish, these are informal events. There's a retiring collection if you'd like to reward our performers, and us!

Our regular coffee session with excellent homemade cake. As usual there is an opportunity to join Welsh speaking tables for a good old natter. You can do that in English too, of course!


St Mary's Youth Choir & Connect Club

Wednesdays, 3.30 - 5.30pm during term time

We've changed the way St Mary's Youth Choir operates. Rehearsals are now immediately after school on Wednesdays, during term time. The Connect Club is open to any young person in KS2, 3 or 4. Just arrive from school when you can. You do not have to sing in the choir. The choir rehearsal starts in church at 4.30pm. Do you know a child who would benefit from this important opportunity? Just bring them along on a Wednesday after school.

Talk: Conversations Over Lunch - Herbie Renfield: Myths of Nelson's Navy

Alpha is a very relaxed and comfortable forum in which to discuss aspects of Christianity. Every session focusses heavily on food (with a free home cooked supper) followed by discussion. If in doubt come along and give it a try. You don't have to agree with everything, indeed we prefer a lively discussion!

This service is packied with patriotic string stuff, entirely by English composers. Please join us for the rehearsal at 4pm if you'd like to sing in the choir or come along to the service at 6pm. The supper follows the service (£15) Please book in advance and pay on the night.

Ross Choristers Concert

The Ross Choristers, with their usual line up of soloists and light hearted music are back for their spring concert. Tickets are £12 on the door. Once again, The Ross Choristers are supporting The Ross Spire in Peril appeal with this concert.

Ross Choral Society Concert

Under the direction of Stephen Power, the choir will present a programme featuring Carmina Burana by Carl Orff followed by some favourite Madrigals.


This exhilarating work with its bold rhythms, sweeping melodies and the iconic ‘O Fortuna’ is thrilling to listen to and even more thrilling to sing.

Ross Heritage Walk - Almshouses of Ross

The Ross Heritage Walks are back for another season. There's one on the third Wednesday of the month from May to September. 


This month, local historian, Heather Hurley, will lead a short work around sites of Almshouses, past and present. There's no charge, just come along to the Market House at 10.30am

Book Talk: Matthew Hall

Thursday 21st May, 7.00pm - St Mary's

Matthew Hall is a Bafta-winning screenwriter and novelist who lives on the England/Wales border. He practised as a barrister before becoming a full-time writer. His TV series Wing and a Prayer was nominated for a Bafta and he won a Bafta Cymru for Keeping Faith. His debut novel The Coroner was shortlisted for the Crime Writers’ Association Gold Dagger in 2009, as was his fourth novel The Flight in 2012. These Jenny Cooper novels have been adapted for Television. He has strong family connections to Canada, which he has regularly visited since 1983.

Town History Treasure Hunt

Saturday 23rd May, 10.30am - 3.00pm

Why not spend a bit of time challenging your brain and learning a little about the history of the town, with a hint of a competition for good measure. The trail is best started at St Mary's Church, where you can collect a form. You'll need your phone and the Museum Without Walls app installed. There are prizes!
